Terrible news. #10 lemongrass beef is the.best.banh.mi.bargain.ever. I am bereft.

Zora, I just had a #10 ($3.75) at the replacement for Song Que - it wasn't quite the same, featuring huge pieces of raw white onion and raw jalapeí±o. That said, it probably had the best baguette of any banh mi I've had in the immediate area, so all is not lost - I picked off the onion and jalapeí±o and enjoyed it very much.

As silly as it might sound, I didn't even get the restaurant's name, but it has the same structure and format. However, my beloved coconut water (the best I've ever had that wasn't ultra-fresh or didn't cost more than $10) was ... gone from the refrigerator case!

I suspect a lot of the previous workers are remaining here, so it hasn't changed as much as you might think, yet.

Interestingly, when we went a week after the change over in ownership, found the baguette to be not freshly made like before. The grilled tofu skins were almost the same as was the the rest of the sandwich construction.

I may have to switch over to the place on Rte. 50 before Seven Corners.

I just had my usual #4 bahn mi xiu mai.   It tasted pretty good but had raw onions on it.  I will ask them to omit them next time.  They used to use radish.  Nonetheless glad they are in business.  Did notice that it was pretty empty on a Saturday at noon-ish.  So please patronize this store so it doesn't go out of business like the previous store.  BTW, check out the new Chinese supermarket.  Pretty cool!

Does anyone know what Song Que is called now? I can't remember if they changed the name or not (if they did, it gets its own thread; if they didn't, this thread needs to be retitled).

I was at Eden Center yesterday near the fountain manning a table for voter registration.  I went into Song Long to make sure they were registered when I realized the door was locked.  Peered inside, all lights off and merchandise was all gone.  It must have happened recently because, sitting at the table, I kept seeing customers try the door before realizing the place was closed.

Anyone know what is going on?  There was no sign explaining it.  Are they moving somewhere else or closed for good.  I'll miss the banh mi's (I guess Kim Phung is my new banh mi place now) and the friendly family that owned it, especially the twin boys.

By the way, I hope everybody is voting in November.  Try to do early voting in your state to avoid the long lines on Election Day.
