Recognizing the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach!

No kidding! I didn't even know. 331 years ago, that much I know.

Let's celebrate with the "Little Fugue," a four-voiced fugue for organ in G-minor. You can hear the first voice during the opening, then you'll hear the second, then the third, then the fourth, all singing at the same time. This is one of my favorite pieces of music. Imagine this blaring in a church (I've heard it in the Nice Cathedral, sitting right next to the organist, Jean Wallet (who happened to be *blind*, not to mention a very competent violinist), and it is literally awesome). This is performed by Virgil Fox at the Riverside Church (note how the entire first 50-60% of the piece is in minor, before a surprise shift to B-flat major. Then, it modulates around between keys, finally ending on a G-major chord).
