Cue into this Battling Team
Chef Andrew Evans of The BBQ Joint and
Competing Team, ‘Walk the Swine,’ Go for Top Glaze

Posted ImageIt’s Wednesday and let’s look towards where you’ll eat this weekend! Will you be in the city? I would love to have you stop by this year’s Safeway Barbecue Battle and reacquaint you with this highly regarded chef and an all around great guy, chef Andrew Evans, owner of The BBQ Joint, who will be a contestant at this year’s battle. Andrew was formerly a fine dining chef and inn owner at the Inn at Easton in Maryland. Notable NY Times Food writer, R.W. Apple wrote one of his last articles before passing away on Andrew, “Mr. Evans….works magic with the ingredients…”  Fast forward, Andrew gave up the Inn to secure funds to assist in the well-being of his wife and is presently raising his two daughters solo. He has picked up his boot straps and is doing something close to his heart and a total 180 in his approach: competing, cooking, and eating BBQ. He and his team, ‘Walk the Swine,’ already have a number of accolades under their belt [see below] and are kicking butt in BBQ nationwide.

The battle on Pennsylvania Avenue will take place this Saturday and Sunday, so if you’re lookin’ to get out of your ‘house’ pen, please stop by and meet Andrew.  Battles end each day at 2:00, and he’ll be free to chat with you, and he’ll be packin’ a few scraps too!
