Sushi Rock Celebrates the Summer Olympics
Opening Ceremony Festivities
Arlington, VA—As the Summer Olympics debuts with opening ceremonies on July 27th, Sushi Rock in Arlington, Virginia celebrates with its very own style of support for Team America. The Opening Ceremonies air at 7:30 p.m., but Sushi Rock will be saluting all evening long with special drinks and a specially designed sushi roll.
As guests watch the Parade of Athletes and the lighting of the Olympic Torch on Sushi Rock’s myriad of flat screens, the restaurant will be cheering on the US Team with a Team America Roll—an all American combo of succulent steak, fried onions and cheese with a side of fries ($15) and a Team USA cocktail-- Southern Comfort, Amaretto, Cranberry and Pineapple Juice ($5). Of course the regular menu will also be in play, featuring a fusion of flavors from Korea, Japan, South of the Border and more—highlighting the Melting Pot of the country. Guests also win a gold medal for good performance. Those wearing their country’s t-shirts, colors, symbols, etc. will be awarded a gratis carafe of Sake courtesy of Sushi Rock.
The name of the Olympic Opening Ceremony show will be ‘Isles of Wonder’ and the worldwide broadcast will commence at 9pm. The Ceremony will kick off with the sound of the largest harmonically tuned bell in Europe, produced by the Whitechapel Foundry, and the Stadium will be transformed into the British countryside for opening scene ‘Green and Pleasant’, which includes real farmyard animals. A sight to behold to be sure—made even better with Sushi Rock’s culinary world voyage.
Sushi Rock is located at 1900 Clarendon Boulevard in Arlington and is open for dinner 5-10 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and 5-11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday with plans to also open for lunch later in the year. The restaurant also does outside catering. Free on site garage parking is available; Courthouse Metro is a short 2 block walk.
