  1. You are super welcome. We've missed a few games recently, but want to get to the Park again before the All Star Break.
  2. Here's WaPo's annual article detailing Nats Park's 2023 concessions. On the plus side: new Kosher cart, Char Bar, in Right Field plaza serving "pulled beef brisket, falafel sliders, hot dogs, potato wedges and potato knishes." On the downside: fewer District Drafts carts offset by self-serve canned beer outlets (if they're like the ones at OPACY - they'll have all the characteristics of a 7-11).
  3. I wonder if the notation on their website mentioning a Nats Park stand update on August 1st is still current. Hmm, that date doesn't seem so random now... It was bad enough losing both Max Scherzer and Max's Kosher -- who knows what will happen before this year's trade deadline. https://www.theshalomgroup.com/maxs-cafe-and-catering/venues.html
  4. In all this time, I was unaware of both their behind the building parking and outdoor tables. Glad to see them back - missed the pickle (and beet) bar.
  5. This article is on-line now and worth the read: Inside Peter Chang's New Flagship Restaurant (bethesdamagazine.com)
  6. In response to saf's post: ""On the up side, I understand they will have South Mountain ice cream! But I don't know where the stand will be. Probably not in the 300s, where we sit."" The by the scoop Breyers ice cream is out and prepackaged 8-oz containers of South Mountain is in throughout the Park. So far just Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry. The Dugout flavor on the menu board is is actually gelato and served from the Dolci Gelati cart. The super friendly staff said there were rumors of another flavor being added in the future, maybe Cookie Dough.
  7. Since the promos for WETA’s new series Signature Dish began airing - I’d been anticipating the Peter Chang episode. It was broadcast tonight and begins just before the 18-minute mark. Overall, it was a great segment and humanized the Chef much more for me. However, animating posts from this thread without attribution (during the segment or in credits) to this site was surprising. 8. Here’s Eater’s 2022 version of what’s to eat/drink at Nats Park. As much as I’ll miss Max Scherzer, the loss of Max’s Kosher stings too. We won’t be able to access the new Duke’s Grocery location without Club-level tickets. The bag policy has also changed (more restrictions). Here’s part of the guidance - there’s more than just this screenshot.
  9. Visualizing JPW sitting in his usual spot at Ray’s the Classics bar.
  10. Adding Eric Asimov’s remembrances in this NYTimes obituary https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/10/dining/chowhound-closing.html?unlocked_article_code=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEIPuomT1JKd6J17Vw1cRCfTTMQmqxCdw_PIxftm3iWka3DODm8aiOgUBYmG9ADGZa18Z9wu2TjeT9tGK74pS7py0upbdQRLejWfn6Glyt4DMjln7sW6RH831JbAGr41rjGzMWWzbbYiz-X64knbaH26C_bezSUjJwhm8ZVnJ1ug2GcahfuQSp4D0dJ73vwlBZBoF3xXNGTR4a6eW1gpM86Gbxrc9gA3R-laPDnUltWY4L8EGx5AXROEFDgspDZht64PfY8fL639LBU_ecfhgbx3CmBgL4ihApJZVJE-ZE68RqrQCpWvO0qjO5Uc&smid=url-share
  11. Here’s an article from Bethesda magazine profiling the currently announced candidates for County Executive and their views on the County monopoly. They range from status quo to eliminating the monopoly and a hybrid in-between. Because I have not been following this topic during the pandemic, the assertion the system is now more efficient and customer-friendly is lost on me. The primary election is in late June 2022. https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/government/county-executive-candidates-divided-on-montgomerys-alcohol-monopoly/ https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/government/county-executive-candidates-divided-on-montgomerys-alcohol-monopoly
  12. Thanks for posting this notice. I spent a few minutes scrolling through the 300+ comments on the Grace Garden thread. https://www.chowhound.com/post/grace-garden-chinese-odenton-520156 And Jim Leff's blog post: https://jimleff.blogspot.com/2022/03/a-farm-upstate-where-he-can-run-and-run.html
  13. Any current, local repair shops focused on KitchenAid mixers? My Hobart-era KitchenAid stand mixer is in need of a refresh. After watching the Mr. Mixer YT videos and TikToks (Mr..Mixer), I realize it's an undertaking best left to professionals. While the holiday shipping mess is hopefully sorted, I'm looking for alternatives before sending my mixer to Kansas. 14. Looks like Washington City Paper is looking for a freelance food critic: https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/535330/were-hiring-a-carry-out-food-critic-is-it-you/?fbclid=IwAR2iTl78XE8sNS4SEaUcEWIHEv9Wg1CbgRzeg6bHeMeIaZ1PSqi4XPn4nxM
  15. It’s only been since last week for Nationals Park to be back at full capacity and mask-free for fully vaccinated fans. A spot of sunshine tonight is having Chef Jose Andres throw out the ceremonial first pitch. This is a return gig - his first outing was for the 5th Game of the World Series in 2019. To commemorate the event, a $ 50 bobblehead is available for pre-order. I didn’t get the Dr. Fauci bobble and will probably pass on this one too. https://www.foco.com/products/jose-andres-washington-nationals-first-pitch-bobblehead Edit to add: He seemed to have a good time!
