  1. Sautéed softshell crab plated on warm gazpacho on the menu today for lunch at Clarity. Nicely done. Last night's dinner menu described an almond crust. Today's edition at lunch was without crust or breading, so it appears the preparation will vary. Their website updates the menus daily.

  4. A few weeks ago I watched a guy illegally park on Freedom Drive, run in to Potbelly and place his order, run back outside and sit in his car, then run back inside when his order was ready. I assume this was to avoid the $2.00 parking fee you mentioned. It was off-hours so there was not much of a line. I am not sure this strategy would be as effective if tried during a lunch rush. Maybe if they had an app where you could order ahead and pay like Starbucks has it would work.

  7. The Liberty Tavern in Clarendon has had charred baby octopus (hummus, kale, fennel confit, black olives, paprika aioli) on the menu for some time. I usually end up ordering it every couple of months or so. Always tender and satisfying; never rubbery. $13.25 as an entrée at lunch. $13.50 as a starter at dinner.

  9. Soft shells at Blacksalt tonight. Tasty. Sautéed or fried. Your choice. Nice.
  10. John Lennon said, “If you tried to give rock ’n’ roll another name, you might call it ‘Chuck Berry.’” If you want to read someone give a brutally frank recounting of one's life in progress, read Chuck's autobiography. The guitars were off the wall last night at the Townshend Bar at Café Kindred and the tributes abounded.
