Giving a shout out to Nazret! We ordered a takeout meal last night for 4 of us. Called in the order and was ready in 25 minutes for curbside pickup. We ordered 2 veggie platters for 2 one with awaze tibs added and one with chicken tibs. The food was packaged in a rectangular aluminum pan with the individual dishes placed on the injera as if served on a platter in the restaurant. Plus 8 pieces of injera. The meat and chicken were freshly cooked and delicious as were the veggies, each with their different flavors. Excellent meal with leftovers.

I’m listing this here because we ordered the food shipped to us . It’s been a long pandemic and we were looking for something different that we could not get in DC. A friend suggested ordering pastrami from Katz’s and we did. It was delicious and as good as I remembered from in person visits years ago. We also ordered mustard and bread and potato knishes. The rye looked right but was still packaged when we received it.They suggested warming it but tho it had that ny rye taste, it was just not quite there. But the pastrami which comes frozen( who knew that could work)and vacuum sealed and comes with heating instructions proved to be truly great !! The six of us all agreed that although the pandemic bar is low, these sandwiches were delicious. The knishes were just ok.

We have done takeout from Shirlington twice and have been very happy. The pot stickers, cumin lamb and the rice cakes with beef have all been excellent and packed well and steaming hot when we got home to a Baileys X roads.

Last night Grilled shrimp tacos, salsa, chips and guacamole, bean corn salad, green salad, Maida Heatter’s blueberry crumb cake with macerated blueberry topping. The organic blueberries from Costco have been really good this week with that delicious blueberry flavor.

Last night baked eggplant parmigiana, little gem salad and Tate’s double chocolate cookies.
