  1. I decided to give Royal Mile another shot. Still disapointed, but the food is still good. The issue I have is that it lacks the feel. The new owner has put his son in charge, and he apparently wants to start off fresh, while his father said he would not change a thing.
  2. You could do all local/dog themed. DewClaw, Flying Dog, Brew Dog, and yes Baying Hound. These are all from Maryland.
  3. Royalmilepub.com is the old site, there were some issues with the old developer and him relinquishing the domain name. I worked with Michael Moore to redo the website, so the .net address is the new one, it just hasn't been updated at all. I haven't heard from the new owner so its just sitting there. I hope they use it, I put a lot of work into it.
  4. I went in for brunch last week, they've done a nice job fixing up the place, and the staff is compitent. My only complaint is that it seems to lack the feel that the "old guard" gave off. Maybe its just breaking in the new staff and getting to know them.
  5. I went in the other day and met the new owner. Looks like some of the servers and bartenders will be returning, so I won't have to re-introduce myself. I drove by again the other day just to see the sign. It makes me really happy. Too bad I work late on Friday, I'd love to go to the re-opening. It also means my wife will know who to call when she can't reach me at the brewery
  6. Royal Mile is closed. According to my sources, the owner is trying to sell the place. The building need a lot of work. And for those hoping Ian or his folks taking back the Mile, the chances seem to be slim to none on that one.
  7. I worked for Tom briefly, and I have to say I never worked with better ingredients. It's too bad my commute was lousy and gas was even more expensive then than it is now. I wish Tom well.
  8. I'm getting into this discussion late in the game, but has anyone mentioned Growlers to get a growler? If you're looking for empties, you can also check out local homebrew shops. I was looking at getting them wholesale, but they are still damn expensive unless you order in bulk. Check out Maryland Homebrew. If you're looking for alternative places to fill a growler, we fill them for $10.
  9. I would love to see this go viral. It's a short documentary some AU students did about my brewery
  10. I am aware of my earlier statement. I don't know why I was leaning towards Clark. Ah well, I had a few beers when I wrote that. Deffinately a cash flow issue.
  11. I stand corrected. I'm just used to slimy landlords, mine isn't, but I think most are. I guess I can relate to the landlord a bit, I know when one of my distributors doesn't pay me right away, and the brewing industry is notorious for this apparently, it sets me back quite a lot. I'll shut up now. It was funny that the Gazette referred to the General Store as the General Store Post Office Tavern, I thought that's what pissed Clark off in the beginning when the Post called it G SPOT. To me it was always the G SPOT, never ate there. I was in there perhaps once, and that was to drop off beer samples, I never heard back from them. So I revise my original post, its a shame a restaurant has to close, and leave it at that.
  12. On second thought, I would probably have paid money to see the argument. But the landlord had agreed to a weekly payment plan, he turns around and sues them when collections came a call'n for back taxes. Its for lack of a better term, indian giving
  13. I was flipping through the Gazette yesterday and came across this headline "The General Store closes its doors" http://www.gazette.net/stories/03302011/takonew213740_32539.php Regardless of what some people think of Clark, I myself have no opinion, it is a real shame that she was forced to close down. The article, I felt, made the landlord look like a real prick, he probably is. So, I'd like to wish Gillian Clark and Robin Smith good luck in their next venture.
  14. Apparently they are open now. A friend of mine went there and gave 2 thumbs up.
  15. Here's something that isn't a cocktail, but its just as bad as a bad cocktail. Never buy a tequilla named after the neighborhood you're buying it in. Many years ago, I bought a bottle of "Cleveland Park Tequilla." Wow, what a mistake. It smelled and tasted like terpentine.
