  1. Chef Posting Big Bear Cafe - The Big Bear Café in Washington, D.C. is hiring a new evening chef to help with running a small, high quality, local produce kitchen. The ideal candidate would be responsible, professional, creatively ambitious, dedicated to working as a part of a team, and committed to feeding people well.   2. Bar Manager Position The Big Bear Cafe in Washington DC is looking to hire a professional, diligent, and responsible bar manager to oversee bar development and operations. We are a small neighborhood café that focuses on high quality, locally sourced food, and a small but carefully crafted bar menu. We have recently expanded our busy breakfast and lunch service to continue into the evening, and are developing a bar program which is aligned with our vision for an intimate bistro style evening experience. The ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills, be proactive in developing and promoting the bar program, and be a graceful and diligent problem solver. The bar manager would work directly with the owner and other managers to develop and maintain the beer, wine, and cocktail menu. The Bar Manager Position requires working a minimum of 3 evening shifts per week, in addition to logging the necessary management hours.   3. The Big Bear Cafe in Washington DC is looking to hire two (2) capable, intelligent, responsible kitchen people to help with meal preparation during our lunch and dinner service. We are a small neighborhood café that focuses on high quality, locally sourced food. We are expanding our busy breakfast and lunch service to continue into the evening, and we are looking for a couple people to help manage the high lunchtime demand while also working with our evening chef to develop the dinner program. The ideal candidates would be responsible, professional, humble, and eager to learn. He/She must take leadership well, work well with current cafe staff, be flexible in job responsibilities, and love to work with food. - The Lunch Kitchen Position would require working 2-4 daytime lunch shifts per week, and 1-2 shifts per week helping with the evening dinner program, or the breakfast program when necessary. The lunch menu is made of small sandwiches, salads, and soups. - The Assistant Chef Position would require working 5 evening shifts per week. 2 of those shifts would involve working directly with the chef in preparing and serving the evening meals as a part of the chef's nightly rotating menu. The remaining 3 shifts would involve working independently in the kitchen ensuring that the evening menu meals are properly prepared, plated, and served.
