While out that way, does anybody ever go to Frog & Friends just outside Marshall? I always get the road names mixed up, I think it's roughly where the Belvoir Road intersects 55, near the livestock auction. My wife and I and my stepdaughter had a pleasant late lunch there a couple years ago, seems like at that time the then-new owners had just taken it over. It had declined, I think people said, prior to that, but these young guys had Citronelle connections and big ideas for getting Frog & Friends on track, though I believe they were maybe a little under capitalized.... sort of country French I'd say. ETA--Ach I DO always screw up the road names, it's the Zulla Road, rte 709 & VA 55.

Everything that got a vote in Review #11 will be included in the upcoming poll, and in addition, we'll include restaurants nominated between now and tomorrow at 5 PM, so please get your choices in today or tomorrow. There is no need to nominate Comet Ping Pong, as I will be going there and reviewing it very soon anyway.

We stopped by Gentle Harvest a few weeks and enjoyed the newly opened 'road side' restaurant/grocery store. The sandwiches and sides were tasty however the prices were more expense than other higher end places like Chipotle. Still, it was a good meal and definitely would stop by on the way to the Shenandoah National Park for lunch if we didn't prepare food at home ourselves. Additionally, having the Red Truck Bakery a few doors down was too tempting not to get a few pies. We stopped by Field & Main and looks very enticing. Hope to arrange a trip there soon. Marshall, VA looks like a little interesting town with these new food attractions.

The Marshall diner is off I-66 in Marshall Virginia on west Main Street, not very far from highway, I have eaten there once when I picked up my puppy and again on the way down to Al. The fried chicken is pretty fantastic, crispy and juicy with a bit of sweetness. It's comes with 3-4 pieces 2 sides and a roll and I'm pretty sure it was under 10 bucks. Another time I had a perfectly cooked over easy egg plate with home fries and sausage all good. It's a nice little place to stop on a road trip.
