I had a fantastic blondie from DogTag Bakery this afternoon. It was dense and buttery and full of butterscotch chips. Perfect treat for a movie (shhh). I've gone there a few times and generally been happy with my treats; the pumpkin mini-loaf is wonderful when they have it. They're a nut-free bakery, which I love as a person with several nut allergies. DogTag Bakery is the work experience part of a job training program operated by DogTag Inc., a non-profit, in conjunction with Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies. It's staffed by veterans with disabilities participating in the program and employees of DogTag Inc., who are training them.

I haven't been here, but heard that That's A Wrap Deli opened in the Potomac Valley Shops (12158 Darnestown Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878). From their website it appears that it is a non-profit that employs people with special needs. I will definitely give it a try. Has anyone had a chance to stop by yet?

I went for coffee the other day after dropping one of the cats off at the vet (poor baby had to have dental work done. I felt very guilty.) The cats go to Union Vet, so this meant that I was right across the street from Ebeneezer's Coffee. So, I got a nice latte there. Again, not quite as hot as I like, but it had a very nice flavor. I would get it again, although I would order it extra hot.
