I heard from an inside source today that Stephen Starr's restaurant group has signed a lease for the old Q Street Cleaners space at 1601 14th St. NW, and it's going to become a Buddakan. Confidence level? Since I'm relying on a source for this (as opposed to hearing it with my own ears), it can't be 100%, but it's up there.

I don't think I'd consider Parc essential - especially given the proliferation of brasseries in DC. They do what they do very well, but if you're staying off Rittenhouse it's really better suited as an option for breakfast, lunch or (even better) a spontaneous glass of bubbles in the afternoon.

Had dinner here Friday night (former Manzanilla space). Fantastic new addition to the Flatiron area. Collab from Justin Smilie (Il Buco, Barbuto) and Stephen Starr. The space and menu feels like ABC Kitchen with more of an Italian influence. Highlights for the apps were the Japanese Mackerel (celeriac, brussels sprouts, pistachio, benton's ham + tangerine) and the Beef Tartare (black trumpet mushroom, puffed farro, anchovy + egg yolk). Don't miss the Short Rib for Two (loved the shaved horseradish) and Estrella pasta with chicken liver for entrees. Service was fantastic and Mr. Starr himself was actively working the room. My boyfriend and I were in Philly last weekend and had some amazing meals. We started on sat by getting drinks at continental. You can sit outside and they have fun drinks like the Champagne-a-rama! Then we ate at Budahkan, which is always amazing. We had a tuna pizza (thinly sliced tuna and wasabi on focaccia) as an appetizer and i had the seared ahi tuna, which was on of the best I have ever had, while my boyfriend had the steak which was equally delicious. On sunday we had brunch at Continental mid-town, which is such a fun kooky atmosphere. For dinner we went for drinks at Jones and dinner at to Morimoto, which was very impressive. I absolutely LOVE Stephen Starr restaurants (as you can tell from my culinary weekend). Why oh why can't we have a Stephen Starr in DC??

I've done Morimoto about a year ago and had an amazing meal. It's quite expensive, I think we blew about $400 for dinner for two with sushi, couple of small plates, desserts, and a very generous alcohol allowance, but much fun with food has been had by all and I felt it was worth it. It would help to go with someone who loves food, too. Also, once you've had a few drinks, a constant change of color of the walls boosts the fun and giggles.

I haven't actually been, but will tell you that Talula's Garden was high on my list based on their website and recommendations from others, but alas, the rest of the folks in my group wanted to eat hand drawn noodles.

Fatty Crew has teamed up with Stephen Starr to bring Fatty Crab to DC, perhaps as early as later this year.

I've seen a few mentions of Continental Midtown on this board, while it may not be the finest dining in Phila, I always have a blast when I go. If you've never been , just imagine what Willy Wonka would do if he turned his hand to savory instead of sweet. One of my all-time favorite dishes there is the lobster mac n cheese. Our good friends and Conde Nast were kind enough to post the recipe for us and here's a link...My link [Editor's note: Cookie (along with Gourmet and Modern Bride) went out of business in October, 2009, and this link no longer exists - if anyone can find it in Conde Nast's site, please alert me and I will replace it. DR] Yes, it's enough cheese, cream and butter to choke an ox...but, so yummy! I can't wait to try this.
