DonRocks
You have to support your locally owned restaurants however you can, and I've been enjoying this coffee ($10.99 for 12 ounces of beans) for the past couple of days. It has both a "roasted on" and a "sell by" date on the bottom of the bag. It's a rich, but not over-roasted, blend which has, in its own words, "full round body with deep chocolate base and sweet-toned fruit."Cheers,Rocks. goldenticket
Funny, we just asked at Lickety-Split today about purchasing the Restaurant Eve blend from Caffe Pronto and were happy to find out that it's available right up the road.
DonRocks
Funny, we just asked at Lickety-Split today about purchasing the Restaurant Eve blend from Caffe Pronto and were happy to find out that it's available right up the road. You know, I'd tried the Restaurant Eve blend several times in the past (several years ago), and by the third bag or so, decided I just didn't like it very much. Today, at Whole Foods, I noticed that it's no longer being roasted by Caffe Pronto; it's now roasted by Ceremony Coffee Roasters in Annapolis. I didn't buy the Restaurant Eve Blend, but did get a bag of Ceremony's "Destroyer Espresso." I've never had this roaster before - even smelling through the unopened bag, I have a pretty good feeling about it. One question: when did "a pound" become "12 ounces?" How did coffee roasters get away with this? Oh, for the days of Jackie Robinson and Chock Full O' Nuts.
deangold
Caffe Pronto is the name we are charged under when we buy Ceremony. Probable the corporate name and Ceremony is the brand.

Well that might explain why Restaurant Eve's label looked *exactly* the same - I found that very confusing. I do hope they tweaked the roast. deangold
We use their strong espresso for both our espresso and coffee. I find their coffee roasts a bit bland for the blend, perfect for the single origins.
porcupine
One question: when did "a pound" become "12 ounces?" How did coffee roasters get away with this? Oh, for the days of Jackie Robinson and Chock Full O' Nuts. A few years ago. Coffee roasters aren't the only ones. Lowering quantity is less perceptual sticker shock than raising price, even though the result is the same. Probably the same psychology as pricing something at $19.99 rather than $20.00. In the case of coffee I prefer it that way, because I can't get through 16oz of beans before they start getting stale. Come to think of it, maybe that's the reason roasters went to 12oz packaging...
darkstar965
Caffe Pronto is the name we are charged under when we buy Ceremony. Probable the corporate name and Ceremony is the brand. Caffe Pronto was the former name and is still the corporate name and retail name used for the shops in Annapolis. Ceremony was the name taken when they rebranded a few years ago to focus on the wholesale business. That's how they are known outside of Annapolis. The Armstrong's were one of the first to partner with Caffe Pronto/Ceremony years before they began to really focus on growing their business. To some degree, both businesses grew up together. The Ceremony rebranding fueled the expansion into DC and NoVa and was after their Andy Sprenger won the National Brewer's Cup championship last year. And, Don... They've been in several restaurants around town for a couple of years now along with a presence in many of the better coffee shops in town. BTW, Destroyer is quite good but only my second favorite Ceremony espresso. Here's the winner in my book. When fresh and pulled properly, great stuff.
