Commitment: 1 year commitment preferred; 6 month minimum requirement. Full time position

Heaven Restaurant & Inn opened in May of 2008 in the lovely neighborhood of Kiyovu. Started as a social enterprise to improve service levels in the hospitality sector and create employment, Heaven is consistently ranked one of the country's top restaurants with a spectacular ambience on a custom-built outdoor terrace overlooking the entire city. Heaven is committed to an international standard of cuisine and service, and is continuously seeking ways to improve all areas of the business.

 

We are looking for a creative, energetic "foodie" Chef to improve our kitchen organization, and help us run an efficient and profitable operation. While some culinary training and restaurant management experience are preferred, a great personality, ability to lead and train our kitchen staff and willingness to interact with our international customer-base are the most important traits. Similarly, some proficiency in French would be great but not essential.

 

Responsibilities include: kitchen management and staff training, purchasing, menu development, some front of house interactions; increasing revenue and lowering expenses; team-building efforts, managing conflict; inventory control and management of stock; showing creativity and innovation when it comes to all areas of the business such as new promotions and special events, and helping us design systems to monitor and evaluate. This is a great opportunity for someone with an adventurous spirit, and an entrepreneurial approach!

 

Compensation: Stipend up to $1,500 per month; profit sharing negotiable.
