Tim's Vermeer is still playing at the Cinema Arts theater in Fairfax.

Cinema Arts in Fairfax deserves to be supported, and vigorously. Independently owned, no gouging, free popcorn refills, and great movies.

The place is tired and worn down but the owner is present and often takes informal "polls" of what movies to bring in after showing 2-3 trailers before a movie. I love that place and hope he can keep doing what he has been doing for a long time.

I read David Hockney's book about 8 years ago and have been anxiously awaiting this movie. Tonight might be the night!

I don't know why I just saw this, but I couldn't agree more strongly about supporting Cinema Arts Theatres (*). It's right across the street from W.T. Woodson High School in Fair City Mall. This mall is being consumed by big-box stores (Best Buy, DSW Shoes, Shoppers Food Warehouse), and I fear that the little stores tucked away in the corner (which include Cinema Arts Theater) will be pushed away.

Note that Mark O'Meara also owns the four-screen University Mall Theatres (**), at the intersection of Braddock Road and Route 123, so if you support one, you're supporting both.

Anyone up for a movie, followed by (*) China Star or (**) Tong Thai? I wish there were better restaurants to choose from, but there aren't. Maybe a quick trip to Piero's Corner would be the answer, or even Bernie's Deli or Villa Mozart if people are feeling flush. I'm a little worried about thistle's recent China Star review, but that still might be the best option. We could do this with four people, but keep in mind we have several events almost on top of each other in the next few weeks.
