Grease Is The Word - Where Do You Go For Your Junk Food?

Yesterday, after days and days of vegetables and fruits, and fruits and vegetables, and vitamins galore, and fiber, and everything imaginable that could be healthy I had a serious hunkering, a veritable unstoppable craving for a little food with my grease.  I Jonesed for grease.  The food part was an option.  KFC was the choice.  Fries on top of fried chicken.  Fried chicken usually works best for me.  Cheap burgers work, but I usually jones for fried chicken.

Does this happen to others, and where do you fill this craving?

If we were in Atlanta we could all head to the Varsity for an "oil change."  Here, Peruvian chicken places have excellent fried yuca with alioli and that spicy, cilantro-laden, green sauce.  Shoot.  Where are my keys...

Red Apron would probably be my top choice.  A meatball sub and an order of Nate's fries will supply a satisfying amount of delicious animal fats.  Heck, make that two orders of Nate's fries.

Five Guys fries and burger used to fill this niche, but Red Apron is just so much better.

I normally am craving a burger and fries when I want something bad and my preference is BGR, Willow, Five Guys or Rays.  Five Guys is probably the most greasy in a good way though.  I also love the cheesesteak at Rays if I want to be bad, but it's not per say that greasy, just gooey.  I also sometimes get bad cravings for Nachos which I haven't really found a hit the spot cure for and chicken fingers which normally I go to Metro 29 diner for again not particularly greasy.  Of course my favorite grease counter is at home in Oakland, MD at Englander's.

Have to say, when I was in Atlanta I wasn't overly impressed with The Varsity's chili slaw dog thingy -- but damn those onion rings were good!

Great suggestions.  Terrific phrase for the above described yen-->  "oil change"    Yep.  That is the point.

Hm.   meatball subs.  Must admit I've nibbled away on  a reasonable quorum of meatball subs every month, month after month for decades.  It often does the trick.   ;)   Slithery little devils, aren't they?

Nothing like a local grease counter to improve one's demeanor.   Excellent variety.

(btw: just had some terrific multi level chocolate cake from whole foods.  A staffer brought it in as an extra from his son's birthday. Chocolate on chocolate with a lot of fudgy chocolate in the middle.  --> that works in a similar manner!!!!  :D
