DonRocks
BTW, check out the new Chinese supermarket. Pretty cool! Good Fortune opened today, and is now the largest international supermarket in Northern Virginia at 44,000 square feet - perhaps this is the shot in the arm that Eden Center needs (and it needs one badly).
NolaCaine
I had the good fortune to visit Good Fortune this week after a wonderful Pho lunch at Eden Center on Sunday. It is huge, clean, and full of wonders. My 4 yr old was quite happy to see live eels and lobsters. He was shocked to see live fish as well. No live frogs though. and he got a floating balloon. Aside from the huge fresh fruit and veggie sections, (and obvious Asian selections), Good Fortune carries pretty much all ordinate pantry staples and a huge selection of Goya products. I can't wait to go back alone.
goodeats
I had quite the opposite experience than you, NolaCaine. I walked away feeling sad and upset. Sad because the crabs just looked like they have been sitting there for awhile. As did the fish, and the poor lobsters, whose shells looked dingy, even after the man behind the counter pulled it out straight from the tank. I also felt sad for the little supermarket not too far from this market. Upset because I didn't like the fact that they were overcharging stuff that I find a few dollars cheaper at either H Mart or Great Wall. They really marked things up for a few things. I won't go back, but it will be good for those who can't get to the other markets nearby.
The Hersch
My 4 yr old was quite happy to see live eels and lobsters. He was shocked to see live fish as well. I'll point out as gently as possible that eels are fish. So tell me, if I went for eels, they would kill and clean them for me, I hope?

I have been schooled. :-) I am not positive about the cleaning but there were two fish mongers behind the fish counter. Seems hopeful.
