Kibbee Nayee
I have a knife from my mother, who passed some five years ago, but it was her standard tool for preparing all the wonderful meals that the KN family enjoyed for decades. It is value-less except for its deep sntimental meaning for our family. The wooden handle is falling apart, the blade is rusty, and its well worn....but I don't care what it costs to restore it, I want an expert to bring it to a nice level of display quality. It will never again be used as a kitchen tool, but it will hang on the wall with a picture of my mother. Who out there is worthy of such a task? Josh
Maybe start with the DC Mobile Sharp guys at Union Market? While they may not be the ones to restore it, they probably have some contacts that could.
Pool Boy
Weige Knives in Texas are amazing. They not only make custom knives, but they restore knives, some that are 100+ years old.
thistle
Dave Martell-http://www.japaneseknifesharpening.com/about.html, if he can't do it, he'll know someone who can. He's a really nice guy, who knows knives backwards & forwards.
