Water Grill, A Local Seafood Chain in Downtown and Santa Monica Run by King's Seafood

Recommended Posts

I was in downtown Los Angeles for a couple days last week and was able to make it to Water Grill for dinner one evening. As Joe H reported, it is indeed a fine restaurant. As there was a full raw bar up front, we could not resist starting off with some oysters, which were fresh and tasty. They have a full menu of options, but we all opted for the whole fish, of which they had four on the menu that evening, which they sell by the pound. It was a different list than you will see on the online menu, and I imagine it changes often based upon what is available. I opted for the 1 pound size of the Bream (weight before preparation; they had larger sizes), which I had simply prepared filleted with some olive oil and capers. It was perfectly cooked. The 1 pound Bream ran about $30 which I did not think was outrageous for what it was.
