Anonymouze
We decided to go to something that I had heard about in a tourist magazine at the Hyatt when we were staying there! I also had read about it in some of the local publications... it's called Philip's!They had a brunch at 26.95? pp, parking under the restaurant was 5.00 flat (make sure you bring a 5.00 or LOADS of change or some singles and quarters! LOL)We enjoyed a seafood, chicken, roast beef and breakfast buffet-brunch as well as nice desserts more than you could possibly stomach! They also had crab legs, all types of shellfish, stuff on the shell, crawfish, shrimp, everything you can imagine!I had some sliced roast beef, grouper, snapper, hush puppies, bacon, waffles, s...on a shingle, pasta salad, french toast, shrimp and more, but about 1/2 serving spoon of each since I would burst!!!!!Anyhow I had the mango drink special it was delicious! and hubby had an iced tea, I had a coca cola and we drank lots of water as well. The total with tip was under $100.00 with all drinks, tax etc.A word to the wise though, when you visit here do not eat before and expect to skip supper being over-full! It is easy to get to from VA less than 30 minutes drive from anywhere in Fairfax Co and closeby to anyone in the DC area as well. They have a beautiful porch area with open windows so you can watch things go by... it was very nice and "homey". The staff was attentive as well. Go there! Shocked to hear such a positive review of this place.
DanielK
I ate there 15 years ago, before I really knew much about food. But even then I recognized that quantity was substituting for quality.
Heather
Is this for real? (Daniel, it's been 20 years since I've been there. )

Escoffier
"One man's meat is another man's poison." Or "One man's meat is another man's poisson"...(hmmm, that sounds fishy for some reason)
Anonymouze
Okay, it wasn't a 3 star restaurant but it wasn't White Castle! It was clean, our server was nice, the food was hot and didn't taste off and it had a lot of variety, so I'd rate it a good place to go. I would not go there weekly but once in a while if you want a brunch it might be worth going there. I can wholeheartedly recommend the french toast, the fish (snapper, grouper, etc.) and the desserts. Am I redeemed yet in everyones eyes? :-) Also, could you please, PLEASE recommend good places in or near Reston to go for good seafood or crab - THANKS a big bunch. Kibbee Nayee
I ate at the Rockville location yesterday, only because a companion picked it. The place was nicely appointed, the prices were high and the food was just OK. The crabcakes, IIRC, were dubbed "Chesapeake" but were unspectacular. A friend had the $29 mixed grill, with what looked like a couple of ounces of farm-raised salmon, two pairs of medium sized shrimp with a smattering of breading (hence they were 'stuffed'), the ubiquitous crabcake and two asparagus spears. Of note was the Monday evening special of a 1-1.25 lb. lobster for $19.99. They also had a 3-course selection for $29.99 with a first course of a bowl (not a cup) of soup; a second course of either the salmon, or Amish (huh?) chicken, or grilled shrimp; and a dessert. By the way, I grew up in Amish country and had chicken prepared about a hundred different ways, so I don't know which version was on this menu. All I know is that the five basic food groups of Lancaster County are chicken, corn, sugar, butter and flour, and the most perfect food on this planet is chicken corn soup from the Lampeter Fire Hall on Labor Day weekend. DonRocks
Note, just the one location is closing, not the whole chain. Â [Judi, you're correct. But since the Rockville location also closed, there will be no more Phillips restaurants that fit into the Washington, DC forum; however, there is an active thread in the Baltimore forum here.]
DonRocks
If you're longing for the taste of frozen, Southeast Asian crabmeat, Phillip's Seafood operates two area kiosks: one in L'Enfant Plaza; the other at FedEx Field. Since the kiosks are open, Phillips is listed in the Multiple Locations Dining Guide, and is ranked dead last out of all the Chain Seafood restaurants in the area. Could someone please cut the trees in Rock Creek Park down so I can get a better view of the FedEx Field kiosk?
Beto
A writer and I are working on a magazine story about traceability in the seafood industry, specifically, what the public can do to know what they're buying. If you want to guarantee that your crabs are from the Chesapeake, go to restaurants that are members of the "True Blue" program.
