End-of-Summer Cheese and Local Craft Beer
Monday August 13th, 7 pm
Monday August 20th, 7 pm
held at Seasonal Pantry // 1314 9th St NW, Washington DC, 20001

The end of summer is for lazy days, lounging and relaxing with craft beer & cheese. Come savor the last days of summer with unique summertime brews from local beermakers alongside seasonal, handmade cheeses that are at their peak in August. We'll even be learning to mix our own shandies and shandygaffs!

Spend an evening with The Cheese Course at Seasonal Pantry in an intimate class discovering and savoring seasonal, artisanal cheeses. We’ll explore the world of cheese pairing by tasting 6 cheeses and 3 craft beers along with housemade accompaniments by Seasonal Pantry's Dan O'Brien. Fromager Carolyn Stromberg will delve into the story behind each cheese, as well as give practical advice about selecting, serving, pairing, and more.

Class is $49 and each is limited to 12 participants.

Tickets are available 8/1 at: www.cheese-course.com/classes.php

August 13th: Oregon Wine Tasting with Biggio Hamina Winery
On Monday August 13th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., The Butcher’s Block will host an Oregon wine tasting with Biggio Hamina Winery winemaker and proprietor, Todd Hamina. Todd Hamina founded Biggio Hamina winery in September 2007 with a focus on Pinot Noirs. The winery practices whole cluster fermentation, and prefers grapes from volcanic soil. The store will offer a 10% discount on all half cases and 15% on a whole case. The tasting is complimentary, and open to the public, and below is a list of the wines that will be poured:
· Biggio Hamina 2009 Cougars Mark Vineyard Willamette Valley Pinot Grigio – Light straw color, provides tropical notes of melon and pineapple combined with mineral scents of wet stone.
· Biggio Hamina 2009 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir - Fresh red raspberry fruit prevails, with hints of white pepper and earth. A crisp, food-friendly wine.
· Biggio Hamina 2007 Momtazi Vineyard Pinot Noir - Red raspberries, red cherries, and sweet cinnamon intermingle in the glass.  Silky smooth tannins finish this biodynamic Pinot noir.
· Biggio Hamina 2007 Deux Vert Vineyard Pinot Noir – Big, earthy blackberry and black currant flavors finish with structured firm tannins. This is a wine to cellar or decant before serving now.

The Butcher’s Block is located at 1600 King Street, Alexandria, VA. For more information visit www.braborestaurant.com or www.facebook.com/braborestaurant.
