World Domination by Food and Wine
James Bond Returns to The Jefferson for Dinner
50 years of Bond girls, Bond gadgets, Bond cars and the irresistible 007 is making headlines again. He escorted Her Majesty The Queen to the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. His upcoming movie, Skyfall, is the twenty-third spy film in the James Bond series due out in November. And on Thursday, September 13, 2012, The Jefferson, Washington, DC hosts another dinnerin celebration of five decades of Bond- the suave, mysterious, iconic British spy.
An event promising all the glamour and exquisite taste -- epicurean and otherwise -- of those who inhabit the world of Bond, this dinner is a feast of villainy. That is, each of the five courses created by executive chef Chris Jakubiec, with wines paired by wine director Michael Scaffidi, is inspired by an especially vile villain. From Karl Stromberg to Prince Kamal Khan, from Hugo Drax to Dr. Kanaga, and even bad boy Bloefeld, each of Bond’s nemeses, though rotten to the core, is clearly material for delectable menu-building:
