Mama Maria's and Enzio's, Glover Park - Stripped Bare.

A friend took me to Mama Maria's and Enzio's (yes, next to Good Guys) during my first week as a DC dweller. My first thought upon arrival was "are you serious??" She stressed that it was both cheap and good.

I don't recall it being all that good, but cheap it was.

I'ts been a few years, but yes, I've been. Most of the stuff is reheated red-sauce standard Italian. If you live in the neighborhood, try their pizza.

I live in the neighborhood, have tried each twice, and that was four times too many. I think I went back because I couldn't believe they were seriously serving such blah food. At all four meals mine was the only table occupied.

I went when I lived in the neighborhood (1991) and thought they were okay. But my palate was not too developed and I remember that it was cool that one of them took checks!

You're right. I got confused with Mexican Cafe in the same strip. I automatically think of both places as the experiences were so similar.

Ah Margarita's. Haven't been there. I'm sure it hasn't been discussed here.

I have worked next door (in an office building, NOT Good Guys) for years and I have never eaten there, if that tells you anything. I walk by several times a day, though.

I also just read last week that they are going to be closing and Good Guys is expanding into that space.

I actually think I read it in the Northwest Current (or something equally non-racy), haven't read that Washingtonian article yet.

I should add about the restaurant that friends who have gone have said it was on par with Ragu or Chef Boyardee. They wanted to like it since it could be the neighborhood Italian joint, but it was just that bad.
