I would like to purchase some licorice root for a recipe that I have in one of my spice books. Anyone know of a reputable source as SpiceHouse and Penzeys do not carry it.

Mike,

I've not used it myself, but I've used other herbs from Frontier Coop. They do offer licorice root on their website.

What book are you using?

Thanks, but I am looking for pieces of the root. I guess the shredded stuff would work, and I will get that if I cannot find any of the root.

The book is herbs&spices, the cook's reference.

Try a homebrew supply store-- they often carry it.
