Ok, so I know Mardi Gras is a week behind us. However, I have been anointed as the party planner for a New Orleans/LA themed send off for a coworker who is being sent to LA for a year long assignment on a recovery project that my company manages. I need one or two king cakes - plain is fine, no fancy fillings necessary. I know a few area bakeries and restaurants were serving them up until Fat Tuesday, but not anymore apparently. Any ideas? Will anyone do a special order? Thanks

I saw some yesterday at the local Giant.

Which Giant? Did they look halfway palatable?

Thanks

If you don't mind mail order, these are the best king cakes...

You can probably get next day delivery if necessary.

You could also call Louisiana Express in Bethesda or French Quarter Cafe in Germantown and see if they will make you a King Cake.

A former co-worker gets her King Cake each year from Haydel's Bakery. I can attest that they are pretty darn good.

I saw them in the Giant in Chevy Chase. The new one on Wisconsin Ave. in the same complex as all of the fancy shops.

Obviously didn't taste them, but they did look good to my eye.
