@KeithA thank you for the prompt to make reservations. Some of my top choices were already unavailable but dinner reservations have been secured.

Should have mentioned, I've visited Monticello -- it was at least 15 years ago. Worth visiting again? More inclined to check out the area's vineyards.

Has anyone visited recently? Considering dinner at Ivy Inn or Alley Light. Planning to have lunch at Whiskey Jar and The Nook. Would appreciate some recommendations for meals and sightseeing.

Baked the jam swirled cake from "Snacking Cakes" by Yossy Arefi. I used some of my homemade peach jam for this recipe.

Congratulations!!! I’ve been to a few events catered by Susan Gage Catering and they always do a wonderful job. They cater small and large events. https://susangage.com

How would you like the software to assist with your menu making? What type of paper are you currently using for your menu cards and is this what you would like to continue using? Size and paper thickness might help determine the type of printers that will work for this project.

ISO Brownie recipe ideas- Inspired by Baked and Wired

For a very fudgey brownie, I recommend Paul Young’s brownie recipes. https://youtu.be/d8mNY-omIsM -
One thing to note when visiting Lancaster Pennsylvania is that many restaurants are closed on Sunday and Monday. I arrived Saturday evening and departed Monday afternoon and was not able to go to all the places that I intended due to their operating hours. I still had a very nice time and enjoyed the city and its restaurants. Sunday brunch at Zoetropolis. I had the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit with a very nice cup of coffee. Pastries from Barberet. Pistachio eclair and their coco bomb (dacquoise, mango-coconut mousse, guava gel center). https://26eastlancaster.com/barberet/ Dinner at Cabalar Meat Co. I had their steakhouse burger. https://www.cabalarmeatco.com/ Monday lunch at Sprout Rice and Noodle. https://riceandnoodlesrestaurant.com/sprout-menu/

I was contemplating Central Market; you have moved it to a must visit. 🙂 I’m also figuring out how to fit Front Porch Baking into my schedule. And with your suggestions I now have some great places for nearby meals.

Any recent recommendations? I will be in Penn Square next week so mostly looking for things in that area but will be driving from Fairfax so willing to stop along the way as well. Currently planning for breakfasts at the New Holland Coffee Company & the Prince Street Cafe.

I suspect the cut the dough in half step is to give you two manageable dough balls to roll out to a thickness of 1/2 inch. It would be more difficult to roll out all the dough at once to that thickness and you would need a very large counter. My visual on this is that you are making two cinnamon sugar strudel logs (or coils). Sounds like it will be delicious for an afternoon snack with some coffee or tea.

I would make the recipe and see how large it is and put it on an appropriately sized pan. Since the recipe is using two cups of flour, it looks like a regular home sized recipe — the kuchen should bake on a half sheet pan (probably with room to spare).
-
You may know this already but kuchen means cake. This recipe sounds a bit like making a strudel or cinnamon rolls (without cutting the coil into individual rolls). I guess the next step, 6, is to bake until done. I would go with a preheated 350 F oven and started checking on it after 20 minutes. May be close to done or may need up to an hour in the oven.

For years I have been ordering from Central Coffee Roasters in Sperryville. Website isn’t the best but I love their coffee beans. http://www.centralcoffeeroasters.com -
@PatInstantPot Korean chicken wings sound good. Would you be willing to share the recipe?

I wish that AhSo was open for lunch since that is when I am usually in Ashburn. Yesterday I tried the chicken bahn mi at Pho Nomenal. While the fillings were ok the bread was horrible — they served my sandwich on a soft sub roll. Their website features bahn mi on proper bread. Hopefully, yesterday was a fluke but I don’t know if I’ll return. Also, rather expensive… $7.50 for the bahn mi… next time I’m going to Eden Center.

If you like eggnog, try Puerto Rico’s version, coquito.

Sorry about your figs. Were they on the counter or in the fridge? I picked up a large container of figs from Trader Joe’s and was keeping them on the counter and enjoying them as they ripened. One morning I found four fuzzy figs that had to be thrown away. I examined the rest carefully, they were fine, and put them in the fridge. So far, no more figs lost to mold.
