pras
Sierra Nevada's newest year-round offering, Otra Vez is a really interesting and enjoyable brew. It is low in alcohol, and can possibly appeal to wine lovers who cannot get into beer. It pours a pale straw yellow, with small effervescent carbonation. There is a slight aroma of prickly pear and grapefruit. The taste is well in balance, a blend of slight tartness and some sweetness, but again, these two components are in total balance. The grapefruit and prickly pear are there ins the taste, but do not over-power, they actually create a nice balance. The beer finishes w crisp and dry. Coriander is also added to stay true to style. At 4.5% abv, this low alcohol beer is perfect for a ht summer day. The LA Times did a nice profile on the beer. If you don't know about the Gose style beer, it is a style from eastern Germany that was almost extinct. It is soured using lactobacillus, and flavored with salt and coriander. Sour/wild beers are all the rage nowadays, and it seems that all of the big craft brewers are trying to get into the game. This is a good entry level sour beer in that it will not overpower your palate and it is in my mind a perfect beer. Please give it a shot if you see it on draft, or pick up a six pack the next time you are looking for something different.
