I just saw Rooney - astonishingly, in the middle of his career - in the 1972 "Night Gallery" episode "Rare Objects" (all my "Night Gallery" episodes link to the best Night Gallery blog on the internet, written by David Juhl).

I will never forget when I saw Mickey Rooney in a restaurant in Hawaii, about 20 years ago. My daughter, around four-years-old at the time, was walking past his table, and he smiled at her and said hello. She scrunched up her nose and skirted away.
