again , :)

Is Restaurant week really worth the effort ? We did it a couple of times at some nicer places and found that what was being serverd was not on their usual and felt like it was more to get people in the door. I would assume pay full price and get their best.

It really depends on where you go. Some places serve their normal entrees (Corduroy springs to mind). Check out the RW thread for more info.

I don't think restaurant week worth the effort and usually use it as an opportunity to practice my home kitchen skills.

From the Washington Post Going Out Gurus 5/19:

"I just received confirmation from the Washington, DC Convention & Tourism Corporation that this year's Restaurant Week, that glorious week when well over 100 local restaurants will offer three-course lunch specials for $20.06 and dinners for $30.06, is taking place from August 14-20."

Well...since it is getting close to RW, I thought we could open a new thread. Open Table has opening still at many places that participated last January.

Link here for participating resturants after July 21. http://www.washington.org/restaurantwk/

I need help here... I work downtown during the day and am kidless that week. Who has had great experiences during RW? Which meal (Lunch or Dinner?)

I had a good lunch experience at Charlie Palmer Steak.

Had a lovely dinner at 1789 during the last RW. Alas, it appears that they're not participating this summer.

Vidalia also rocked the house last time out. Ditto Corduroy. Galileo, not so much. Georgia Brown's was just aight. Oh, and I had a very good lunch at Rasika.

I think I gained about 10 pounds that week.

I had a so-so dinner at Butterfield 9 a couple years ago during RW, but it was a while ago. Corduroy does really well for dinners. Had a great lunch at Tabard Inn in January. Notti Bianche was delicious for dinner (hope it won't be too sad without Danny!).

Yes, and Please Nadya, remind OpenTable users that just because a restaurant uses OpenTable, that doesn't mean that they automatically participate in Restaurant Week.
You mean your boss is not going to offer 3 courses for $30.06? I would have thought better of your august establishment ;)

I had not really paid attention to this thread, but seeing the dates now I realize why Open Table yesterday showed nothing at Vidalia between 5:30 and 8:15 on the 20th. It's my birthday and I thought it would be great to go to Vidalia, since we haven't been there in quite a while. Fortunately, I was able to get a table at a good time by calling on the phone. (Checking OT now, I see they have nothing before 9 PM on the 20th.) Hmm :)

I went to Colvin Run last RW and didn't think it was all that I thought it was going to be cracked up to be. It was good, just not great on the night I went. It's the only time I've been and with so many other wonderful restaurants around haven't really had a reason to go back.

So far, I've got reservations at: DC Coast and Corduroy for lunch, as well as Viridian for dinner. If I can find time during that week, I'd also like to try Rasika.
I went to Rasika for the January RW and it was quite good. They hadn't really even been open all that long either.

for those that are curious, I have decided to offer the entire menu for restaurant week (app, main, dessert) with no upcharges/supplementals. The menu we will be doing is also not a "restaurant week only" menu as it will be exactly the same as the menu I'm putting in on August 1st. So I hope that for all of you who haven't given us an opportunity to feed you some good food, I encourage you to come try us for restaurant week, and if you can't wait that long, come on tuesday and check it out :)

Couldn't have agreed more...I taste lemon chess pie in my future .. or will it be pecan this time around?

At Vidalia? Or is there somewhere else that has Lemon Chess Pie and Pecan Pie? Man, I can still taste the Lemon Chess Pie from the last time I went to Vidalia.

Definitely Vidalia!! My tongue is watering for the sweet tanginess of the Lemon Chess Pie :)

Oya is apparently kicking things off early and then drawing Restaurant Week out. I just checked Oya's web site, and their RW specials ($20.06 lunch, $30.06 dinner) started yesterday (8.1.06) and will continue through 9.9.06.

I had a fantastic dinner there in June; I'm curious what they are offering on the Restaurant Week menu.

I did a series of complex mathematical calculations with my abacus and all ten fingers, and decided that there is no way in hell I can run off seven straight nights of three-course meals. I am therefore canceling two Restaurant Week reservations:

Wednesday (8/16): Kinkead's, party of 4, 8 p.m.

Thursday (8/17): Oya, party of 4, 8 p.m.

Both times/group sizes are currently unavailable on OpenTable.

I don't know if, in advance of Restaurant Week, Don is going to put together another list of where everyone will be throughout the week, but here is my schedule:

Monday (8.14): Corduroy, 8:00 pm.

Tuesday (8.15): Morrison-Clark, 8:00 p.m.

Friday (8.18): Mie N Yu, 8:30 p.m.

Saturday (8.19): Agraria, 8:30 p.m.

Sunday (8.20): Vidalia, 7:00 p.m.

Here's hoping not. We dont' need another 'what's on your rotation' thread....

Here's where I'll be so far:
