For all of those interested, we will be having an open house/tasting at our shop on Saturday 10/27, from 11-3. We are going to be tasting all of our new flavors and a few new products we will be offering for the upcoming holiday season. We are now making a rich Bittersweet Hot Chocolate mix and Fleur de Sel Caramels in nice shiny tins. Our new flavors include: FRESH MINT, using local "Chocolate Mint" from EcoFarms in Lanham, Md, CHERRY-GINGER, AGED BOURBON, IRISH COFFEE, CITRUS CARAMEL, PISTACHIO, APRICOT-TEA, 66% BITTERSWEET. I am sure we will also have some of our other chocoaltes avaialble for tasting as well.

So, if you are in the neighborhood, please stop by on the 27th and say hello.

We are located at 4815-B Lee Highway in Arlington. We are right near the intersection of Glebe and Lee Highway. Some landmarks include: The Cowboy Cafe (across the street), McDonalds (also across the street), and Subway (which is right next door). Parking is available.

Thanks,

Jason

I am not sure any of these should be considered culinary landmarks...

These chocolates are really incredible. The fresh mint was a standout for me the flue DE Carmel for CUCAS87. The mini bittersweet brownies a hit with Katie my daughter. We arrived 20 minutes after DR cleaned the place out (just kidding Don, but we just missed you). Really some of the best chocolates we have had in a long time.

Thanks Jason and Staff!

Thank you Jason. A wonderful chance to sample your chocolates. I liked the mint too, not to mention the bourbon, the fleur de sel caramels, the brownies, the hot chocolate was dreamy...... ok, Peanut and I were doing some serious sampling. I have never seen her eat so much chocolate. She left with chocolate all over her face! Every single bite was delicious!

Another shout out to Jason for a terrific open house. The fresh mint as wonderful. Even though I normally don't like fruit/chocolate combinations, I really enjoyed both the Apricot Tea and the Cherry Ginger. The Aged Bourbon was also terrific, as the bourbon flavor was very smoothe. However, the Fleur de Sel chocolate was my absolute favorite. Marissa's cooing and smiles provided some entertainment to all in the store, as she seemed to be happy surrounded by chocolate, just like her mother and father.

Jason,

Can you post your contact info and holiday hours on the board? Is it best to just stop by or call ahead with a order? What products will you be selling over the holiday?

Thanks

Scott

Where should I post it? I guess we need to move off of the "Events" board. As for orders, you can certainly call them in to be assured that you get what you want. We are starting to take holiday orders, so please give me a shout and we can get your order confirmed. You can certainly come by the shop at anytime and hand pick what you would like as well. We are open Mon-Fri 10-6 and Saturday 11-5. We are closed on Sunday. I will post all of the contact info (with landmarks) in the appropriate place. (If someone lets me know the best place for that kind of info...)

Thanks again.

Hello all. Believe it or not, we have been in our current location on Lee Highway for 2 years, so we are having a little anniversary party/tasting/open house this Saturday. The event will take place for m 11-3 (just like last time). We will be tasting 2 new flavors to our collection (Pineapple-Passion Fruit and Honey-Pine Nut) as well as many others things, including: our Saturday only Bittersweet Brownies, Pecan Buttercrunch, Crispy Hazelnut Bon-Bons, and more...

We are also having a little contest (winner gets a $50 gift certificate) to help us name a new crunchy confection we came up with.

There will be lots of chocolate to taste (all for free!), so please come by if you are in the neighborhood. Please PM or email me if you have any questions or need directions. I look forward to seeing some of you on Saturday.

Thanks,

Jason

We are located at 4815 Lee Highway in N. Arlington (right near the intersection of Glebe and Lee Hwy). We are in a small strip with a Domino's, Subway, and Indian grocery store. It can be easy to miss, so if you are coming from DC on Lee Highway and cross Glebe Rd, we are about 2 blocks down on the right side (right next to Subway). Other landmarks include Heidelburg Bakery which is just down the street on the opposite side. We are also across the street from the Cowboy Cafe.

In regards to parking, you can park in the lots on either side of the "strip" (next to Subway, or next to Dominos). Do not worry about the towing signs, ALL of those spots are for our store as well... If the lots are full, you can always find street parking on Columbus St or just around the corner (I don't know the name of the street). It usually is not a problem to find street parking.

I hope all of the info helps, and I look forward to meeting some of you on Saturday.

Stopped by with my wife and daughter on Saturday. The chocolates were as outstanding as ever, especially the honey & pinenut and caramel, chocolate & fleur de sel versions! The fresh, warm brownies that were put out were simply put--AMAZING. Thanks again Jason!

BTW, when we stopped by around 11:30, it was already packed with 20-30 people milling about and there were more people coming in as we left.

Thanks for your gracious hospitality, Jason! The chocolates (and YES, THE BROWNIES) were delicious and I like the new flavors. I still favor your caramels, though, ummmm...salted butter crack... Let us know what name you pick for the new crispy things!

I got off work late on Saturday, so we didn't make it -- how was it? Spill about the new flavors! ;)

The Pineapple-Passion Fruit is one of the delicate, jammy chocolates, much like the raspberry chocolate. I personally like the raspberry better, but only because I *love* raspberry. The taste is not overwhelmingly fruity and pairs well with the chocolate shell. The pecan buttercrunch is awesome, highly recommended for anyone who likes toffee or brittle - heartily rich and deeply butter-flavored. Yum. There is also a new item - crispy bits with dried cherries and nuts? It's about the consistency of and eats like trail mix (lots of little bits). It hasn't been named yet (there was a contest during the open house) and apparently, he plans to rotate the stuff added to the "krispies." It's a lot of fun to eat! The new honey pine nut is divine - there are actual chunks of pine nuts buried in the chocolate and the flavor is so...decadent, and a little bit surprising (I've never paired pine nuts with chocolate before!), lightened with a touch of honey. A must try!

Last night I was enjoying some of the goodies I picked up on Saturday. The salted caramels are SO good, as are the aged bourbon and pistachio chocolates. What I like about Artisan's chocolates is the subtle, yet intense, flavors Jason manages to infuse into each bite. In the mint chocolates, the mint flavor is pure and fresh, but not overwhelming - a beautiful complement to the creamy chocolate ganache. Same goes for the aged bourbon (an old favorite) and the pistachio (a new favorite). The toffee (?) samples were quite a treat too - might have to go back for some of that!

This is belated, but the pineapple-passionfruit was my favorite. I got a box of the hazelnut chocolates for my sister, and she compared it to a small bite of the Kit Kat Bar from Central.

I want to thank Jason for all the yummy confections. Of them all, my favorites were the Cinnamon Marshmallows, the Fleur de Sel Caramels, the Peanut Butter Bars, and the Lemon-Hazelnuts. In fact, I bought the first three!

If you want to see some (iPhone-"quality") photos, I have some here.

Thanks to all that braved the foul weather and came by. I would have to say that it was a successful tasting, as we were plenty busy all day long. I hope everyone enjoyed the new flavors and we hope to see you again in the future.

I am tired, time for a drink.

Best Regards,

Jason

I hope everyone enjoyed the new flavors

My kids loved the marshmallow chocolate with the ghost and pumpkin design on top. I was kind of partial to the brownies and the Single Malt Scotch chocolate. It was all so good we had to bring some home. Thanks for the tasting!

That was fun and tasty, and I am now officially a "Card-Carrying Chocoholic". All of the new flavors are terrific, particularly the cinnamon marshmallow and the lavender-fig. Our 14 month-old daughter was on chocolate overload, since she polished off 2 small pieces of brownie plus half a piece of the vanilla bean chocolate. She has good taste.

It was nice to see so many Rockwellers there.

Just FYI...

We are having an all day tasting this Saturday (3/13) from 11 AM-7 PM. We are changing some flavors and we hope you all can make it out to try out the new ones, which include:

Dark Stout (made with Bell's Double Cream Stout)

Hazelnut (a layer of hazelnut praline with caramelized cacao nibs, topped with a layer of 66% ganache)

64% Bittersweet (a new varietal, using a chocolate made from 100% Dominican cacao beans)

Irish Whiskey (a milk chocolate ganache with Jameson 12 Year). We will have this one for just a couple of weeks to celebrate St Patricks Day

We will also be sampling our brownies, Fleur de Sel Caramels, and a few different plain chocolates.

And finally, we will be selling off the 3 old flavors at a deep discount (while supplies last).

It looks like it is going to be a dreary day, so please stop by for a little pick-me-up at some point on Saturday.

Thanks,

Jason

What do you mean "at some point?" You said it was an all-day tasting. I'm getting there at 11, and staying until 7.

Hey all-

We still have a few openings in our chocolate tasting on Wednesday 4/14 at 7:30 PM (here at the shop). We will be talking about how chocolates is made from bean-to-bar, how we make our bon-bons here at the shop, and we will be tasting a fair amount of chocolate. You will also leave with a 4-piece box to take home with you. All of this, for the low, low price of $30. The tasting should be over around 8:30-9 PM, depending on how things roll along. If you are interested, please call us at 703-524-0007 to reserve your spot. I think there are like 6-8 spaces left. Please email me if you have any questions, jason@artisanconfections.com

Cheers,

Jason
