Why this reminds me of COAL PASS, I don't know, but it doesn't help I can't find a link to the reference... But to stay on topic - I, too, am glad, as that is how I pour sparklings too. ol_ironstomach Posted November 12, 2010 Share Posted November 12, 2010 Notorious automotive journalist Satch Carlson has been known to digress during speeches in order to demonstrate good champagne bottle opening and pouring technique. His main tip is to tilt the bottle as far as you can when removing the cork (without spilling) in order to maximize the exposed surface area of the champagne, which will allow the gas to escape with less explosion potential than if opened upright.
