We are doing a last minute, mysterious, full of surprises, who knows what you will get dinner at Ray's Arlington this Sunday. Mystery Michael (Landrum of course) has agreed to host two dinners just for us this Sunday, March 26th. The first seating will be at 5:30 and the second will be at 8. I have room for 35 people at each seating. Ironically, the total cost, not including PayPal fees, will be $35 a person. There will be a cash bar. BYOB is not an option. Once again Michael is generously donating half the donations to charity. This time around the lucky winners are The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and The E.L. Haynes Charter School in D.C. Mystery We will not know what is on the menu until it is before us. The kitchen will only be able to handle minimal food allergy requests. There will be a seafood option but vegetarians should sit this one out. Due to the short turn around for this event we will be doing things a little differently. I apologize in advance if 1)you don't think it is fair or 2) you don't like how it is run or 3) you don't get to come because (insert reason here). Whether or not we hold a lottery will be dependant on how many people sign up. If we end up with a waiting list of more than 15 people there will be a lottery, otherwise there will be a waiting list. Mystery As usual you may only bring one guest. If you and your spouse (or significant other, fiancé, whatever) are both members on the board we ask that only one of you put your name in to keep it fair. If you would like to join us send me a PM telling me if you would like one or two spots, which time slot you prefer (or if you can only make one time spot) and your real name (I don't need to know the name of your "other"). Please be specific about the time slots. If you tell me you want x time but might be able to make it to y if there is only room in y I am only putting you down for x. If you email me I will just ask you to send the same info via PM. I like to have a clear record of who signs up in what order just in case and PM's are much more reliable than emails for me (that's what happens when you check your email from multiple computers ). Also, I respond to each PM so that you know I received it. Once you have that there is no need to email me. You can also track the message to see if I have read it. All you need to do it click on the "track this message button" at the bottom of the text box on the PM page. Then, later in the day, click on My Controls at the top of the page and then on Message tracker on the left side of the page. We have a bunch of new members or people attending their first official event so please don't use that as an excuse not to sign up and join us. That is because you indicated a preference in seatings but are willing to come to either. If there is anyone who would like to join that wonderful group or if you should not have a star next to your name let me know. Don and I are still working out the logistics of the lottery. We'll let you know how it will work when we know:) Until then stay tuned. Assuming all this snow talk is just that, and I don't have a snow day, I will not be able to log onto the board. All names will be assigned one number, and like before, I'll generate a random list. There will be three buckets: a 5:30 bucket, an 8:00 bucket, and a flexible bucket. As the list of winners is traversed, each name will be placed in one of the buckets. At some point, either the 5:30 or 8:00 bucket will fill up (or the flexible bucket will have enough people to trigger distribution), and then the people in the flexible bucket will be placed in the open 5:30-or-8:00 bucket until either it is full, or the flexible bucket is emptied. If the latter, then the list will continue to be traversed until the open 5:30-or-8:30 bucket is filled. In terms of people indicating preference, I'll place them in the appropriate 5:30-or-8:00 bucket if it's not yet full, and into the flexible bucket if it is. The lottery will be drawn late tomorrow morning, and this is the list of candidates, each row to be interpreted as follows: The number assigned to each person The person's name (1) or (2) people wishing to attend Either 5:30, 8:00, or both, with an asterisk indicating a time preference There are 36 available seats at the 5:30 seating, and 40 at the 8:00 seating. Hillvalley is being guaranteed 2 seats at 5:30 for her work in arranging this, and MeMc is guaranteed 2 seats at 5:30 for the work she put in arranging the W Domku dinner. Both are paying the full amount for the dinner. Good luck to everyone in advance. The menu will be a mystery, you will be introduced personally to the cow, have some time to get to know your meal and then be led out to stomp your grapes before embarking on a sea trip to gather scallops. In a complete switch around you will be serving Michael personally as he critiques how you serve, how you handled his reservation, and you ability for quick repartees. Bonus points if you get mentioned in the post. Finally, dessert will be served at the new location in Silver Spring. We will not have a lottery, all will be accommodated via a "soup nazi" approach. As long as you take care of the transaction you are fine. I don't like to respond to emails unless I am able to check your name off the list at the same time and that is difficult to do at work. Therefor there may be a good amount of time between your paying and my confirmation of receiving that email. Your paypal account should let you know if the transaction goes through.
