  1. I've found myself at The Diner and Pizza Mart a few too many times. I have heard that Leftbank is teetering on the brink of closing its doors so that might be one option gone before I've tried its late-night fare. What DC/MD/VA places do you like for dining after midnight?
  2. Well, I guess her lack of customer service skills is no longer an issue since the storefront closed.
  3. I've eaten more than my share of the fries with homemade ketchup at Saint Ex. At Palena, I like the potatoes Dauphine (sp?) better than the plain fries. I could skip the lemons and onion rings and happily eat about twenty of those fancy potato puffs.
  4. Any idea what the soup might be tomorrow (at Breadline)? I'll be over that way and because chewing is not an option, I'm going to be looking for a good soup for lunch. I don't think the blog info is posted until tomorrow, but I figured there might be some regular rotation as there is with fish on Fridays. Edited to add: never mind. The soups are posted and they are butternut squash and Mediterranean fish. Pass.
  5. When I went to Icee-Icy, I found their offerings too sweet (and I like sweet), but I read somewhere - maybe Washingtonian? - that they have a new name and more menu choices, but same ownership. I may have to try again. hillvalley's suggestion of a tour is a good one in my book!
  6. Max's in Glover Park. Cute little Mom & Pop shop right by my gym. How appropriate.
  7. And I thought it was just me. I'm willing to chip in three xanax and two very old Zoloft. All of the other meds in the cabinet will be needed for my dental surgery on Thursday (feel free to send messages of sympathy via PM - kidding...).
  8. Ah, what a shame. I'll be in Cincinnati that weekend, visiting college friends. Have fun!
  9. Those tacos sound GREAT! Palena can be inexpensive if you are disciplined (and don't drink - boo, I know). I too had an awful day, at the end of a bad week in a crummy month so on my way home tonight, I hopped off the metro at Cleveland Park, spur of the moment, intending to get a burger. But to my dismay, I found Palena closed (again!!!) for a private event. I'm surprised they'd give a prime time like Friday night for a private event. Must be some sorta really big big cheese.
  10. My meal there last Friday night was less than special. The ribeye was fine, just not exciting. I'd be content to return, have drinks and food from the bar menu, skipping that noisy dining room.
