  1. Yuck, just like the face says. Well, not so much "yuck" as "lack of any discernible flavor at all." Tomato Mozz salad made with unripe store-bought tomatoes (despite the 'heirloom' advertising), and this in August peak tomato season. Mussels also flavorless. And it's overpriced. Go across the street to Ambar.
  2. In a recent unscientific comparison of Senart's and Hank's: Senart's happy hour oysters are cheaper ($1 vs $1.25) but Senart's were so mild as to be flavorless. Hanks gave a selection of 3 kinds (to Senart's 1) and were pretty good. Pay the extra .25 for Hanks.
  3. Nice lunch at Soi38 today. Really liked the Yum Goong Fu-- a salad composed of fried shrimp is my kind of salad. Also crispy fried duck.
  4. Pound the hill is definitely open and a great place. Only caution: If you order a "cortado" you get a latte. They seem to do that on purpose.
  5. Indigo is packed for good reason. That's the place to go-- only when the weather is nice and you can sit outside though.
  6. Does anyone know of good food maps of the DC area? (Yelp does not count). I've found this one. Ideal would be a google map of Tyler Cowan's blog (anyone have free time..?)
  7. Culver's, if you are in the midwest. Butter burgers & custard.
  8. Anyone else making their own? I've found the spice market in Union Market has some good ingredients for vermouths/bitters/amaros.
  9. Hi. I'm new to DC, but old to eating. Have explored the N VA suggestions in Tyler Cowan's guide, but looking forward to finding more places-- and sharing what I've discovered.
