  1. This place is a gem The spicy noodle soup is just the right about spicy and funky. I love the curries, the panang and pineapple are my favorites. The fried rice is superb while the yums and salads really shine. Service is can be spotty at times. Wine list well catered.
  2. Sprig and Sprout in Glover Park is a gem. The broth has a strong aromatic notes of cinnamon and star anise. Love it.
  3. Yes this is correct. Robin and Lucas are running it. The cocktails are playful, inventive, and fairly priced.
  4. Sambuca is often served with three espresso beans to represent the Holy Trinity of the Roman Catholic faith, or in a more secular setting: prosperity, good health and happiness.
  5. Yes. They must have some real money behind them. Also the spicy lamb meatballs will make you forget it is fast casual.
  6. The 1789 and The Tombs opened in 1962. Clyde's of Georgetown opened in 1963. What about La Chaumière?
  7. I had dinner at the bar on thursday night. The bartenders were very cordial. Several pastas looked inviting and I asked politely if I could do a couple half portions. The bartender graciously informed that this possible. Excellent! I chose the goat cheese and beet plin, and the pappardelle and lamb ragu. Both pastas excellent. The savory goat cheese and sweet beets worked perfectly with the adorable little plin. So delicate. My first bite of the lamb ragu felt a little strong the rosemary, but as I continued, it seemed to work with the thick ribons of pasta. A great addition to Old Town, and in my opinion one of the better openings thus far this year. Did I mention two half orders of pasta and a glass of wine for $26. What a bargain.
  8. Caught two quick appetizers at Chez Billy Sud last week. The restaurant setting is warm, and the cocktail list interesting/fairly priced. The food: Pate Maison - Typical rural pate studded with dried figs. Usual suspects of dijon and cornichons. Absolutely delightful. One of the better preparations I have had recently. Large portion, finished the other half later in the evening. Foie de Volaille - Chicken liver torchon covered in what I believe was gelee. Served with raisin toast points. The bread excellent. The torch? Silken. Luxurious. Superb. Absolutely in my rotation for Georgetown right now.
  9. Lighthouse Tofu can always be relied upon, though a rather limited menu.
