  1. Me too. I’ll pick some things up to bring on the way. Probably some bottles of wine.
  2. Is anyone going? I am going, but my regular foodie friend can't join me. I'd love to meet up and graze with some DRers. LaShanta
  3. I am considering going to this on Saturday. But I need a bit of a push to pay the $95. Is anyone else attending? Or has anyone attended before and can give a review?
  4. Me and my favorite plus-one, my husband Kamau, will be there! (Special thanks to Daniel who told me about the cookout when I ran into him last night. And Daniel, I am VERY excited about the cookies!!!) I missed the spring picnic so I am really excited about this one!! I will bring a chocolate trifle and couscous salad.
  5. Or Potenza (http://potenzadc.com/ ) which I love!!! And may be kind of near the Sofitel, I think. Very grown-up, but not stodgy and with great food!
  6. I know I am super-late on this one, but I would love to come. And since my husband, Kamau has FINALLY moved home from living in Florida, he will come too. Yay!!! WIth regard to what we will bring, I am not sure yet. I want to bake something, but I also want to contribute to the entrees since we don't have very many. I'll continue to consult the list and I'll choose based on that.
  7. Wow, it seems like people are dropping like flies. That makes me sad. Well, let me be a (hopefully adequate )replacement. Count me in!!! And I'm bringing macaroni & tuna fish salad. I know it's not fancy....... ....and it doesn't include bacon. But maybe it will be nostalgic. Like comfort food. See you on Sunday!

  9. I am looking for the cook who made the POUND CAKE and the ISRAELI COUSCOUS. Please, please PM me. (Or if you know who made it, please share and I will PM them.
  10. Yes, we will be Table Monitors. Which probably means we'll be wondering aroung helping doing random things at the tables. But definitely look for us. We're both African American and short (5'3" -- though my husband swears that he is 5'5".) We will both be wearing khakis and white shirts. I have short curly hair with a lot of gray around the front. That all should make us pretty easy to spot.
  11. Count me in!! And luckily, my husband Kamau is in town this week, visiting me from Florida. This is twice in a row now that the picnic fell on a weekend that he was in town. What lucky ducks are we!!!! I will bring a vegetarian pasta salad (for all the non-pig eaters.).. ...and of course my Dr.com T-shirt circa 2006. (So excited that I will get to wear it again!!) Can't wait to see you all again!!
  12. I ended up getting the volunteer gig. Me and my husband wil be there helping out. I am sooo excited!!! Will any DRer's be there too??
  13. Count me in!! I haven't been to a DR event since the picnic, so I am looking forward to reuniting with you!
  14. Anyone know anything about how I can volunteer for this event?
  15. I will be volunteering at this event tonight. I'll bew there from 8-11. I am assigned to assist a group of chefs on the first floor. If you come to the event, look for me. I am wearing black pants and a black wrap shirt. I have big curly hair with a lot of gray strands in the front. I'll probably have on a black sparkly headband thing. I would love to see some DRers there tonight. Create a great day!! :-)
  16. I am so in!! And if someone wants to do a HH before Thanksgiving, I am totally in for that too!
  17. I can come help! I have never done this before, but I love the idea of hanging out with some Rockwellians! I'll read some earlier posts to get the jist of what the instructions are....
  18. Am I too late???? I would love to come! LaShanta Harris
  19. I (LaShanta Harris) and my husband of only 2 years (Kamau Harris) will be there too. I will bring some type of pumpkin dessert (probably a cake) and a sweet potato pie...maybe 2 pies. I haven't seen you guys in soooo long. I am soooo excited!!!
  20. My husband is coming from Florida to visit me this weekend. Rasika is his absolutely favorite restaurant. But because of RW, it is all booked up. If anyone has a reservation there between Friday lunchtime through Monday lunchtime (his flight leaves Monday evening) and is unable to make your reservation, please, please PM me. I would be so eternally grateful. Peace & Blessings, LaShanta
  21. Good point about the matinee prices. (Save enough $2 hear and there and it starts to add up......) I vote for a Saturday matinee and then lunch afterwards. It is showing at 12:45 at Gallery Place, 11:15, 1:15, and 2:15 in Georgetown, 1:30 at Mazza Gallery, and 1:20 at Potomac Yard.
  22. I am soo in for that!!!! I can't host it, but I would love to particiapte!!
  23. I am headed there tonight for a movie. Is there any place near there (within 3-4 blocks) that I should check out for dinner? I did see an older thread about American City Diner. They were less than favorable. I wonder if the place still sucks for anything other than greasy post-drinking food..... Any other places in the area that I should consider? LaShanta
