  1. Anyone seen the Jan 2008 issue with the 100 Best? Checked during my lunch break and even Barnes and Noble do not have it. Just feeling gossipy on the discussions with their 100 best.
  2. Went last Saturday night around 7.45pm -- we were the only other couple in the restaurant. Surprising since the place has just been written up by both Washingtonian and the Post. The steamed Mandu were good as was the star dish (forget the name)-some noodles and veggies in a broth with chicken. The Panchan were really good. The major disappointment was the Pork in some black bean sauce--way too much sauce and quite bland. The server was helpful and nice. Wish they served liquor.
  3. Dinner at Passage to India tonite after 3 months was a real treat. Had been travelling to the west coast since Nov'06 and pining for some good Indian. What is more Passage has just updated their menu and the three of us tried four new dishes. Sounth pakora ap., Goan shrimp curry, Lamb veppaddu(sp?), Dohi murg-chicken. Our server was the one who got written up by the Washingtonian and he was gracious and dignified. Helped us with the new dishes really patiently. Got a chance to meet Chef Sudhir who came out to check on our feedback on the newly introduced dishes. I think dining at this restaurant on weekdays is great since I have been turned away twice on weeknds when I did not have a reservation.
  4. Had dinner there during the first winter spell in Oct'06 with SO and there was just another couple sitting besides us. Service was erratic from non-existent at times to cloyingly sweet. Took some time for the Maitre D/Manager to understand that we are there for a leisurely evening and thereafter things were smooth. The apps (remember one atleast - some kind of pan fried fish which was dry) were OK but they have a good Seafood dish in saffron broth which was good for a cold night. Would I go again Uhhhh maybe not.
  5. I would go for the following in no particular order-just depends on the weather and mood Passage to India Grapeseed La Miche David Craigs As to whether the deal is good or not, I remember there was some discussion last RW Bethesda and a couple of restaurants had responded that it was the total package that was being offered which is not normally done when ordering from the A La Carte menu. I had more hits than misses which is at par with regular dining. Overall RW has not remained thatbig a deal as it was in DC couple of years ago.
  6. If you want an Indian snack replacement I would surely recommend the SEV MURURA CHAAT at Passage to India, Bethesda. You can request them to spike it up. Only drawback - you got to eat it fast before it starts getting kind of soggy after 15 minutes or so. What I like best is that you can eat the Lentil basket that they serve it in too.
  7. This is my first post and I have to say that reading other people's perspectives and their openness to accept everybody else's gave me the courage to come out of the closet. My dinner at RTC in SS was astounding to say the least- Food AAA Service-A (still new) Graciousness- AAA Lucky to have this in SS as I had never been to the VA location. Now I definitely want to go to a place that started it all.
