Dining at the Delaware Beaches
mr food replied to JLK's topic in Baltimore and Annapolis Restaurants and Dining
Keep the President's schedule in mind. If he's visiting his Rehoboth home, Cape Henlopen is basically closed. Add Michy's relaxed dining, Henlopen Oyster House and DiFebos to the reliable restaurants list. Salt Air gets mixed reviews and they just had an upheaval with their staff but we've had pleasant experiences there. Skip pizza here. Try a meatball sub from Frankie and Louies for a gut bomb tour de force. Nicola pizza ain't great but their signature nicoboli and spinoli (with spinach) are a local delicacy. A cold winter has meant great local oysters. Starboard Raw in Dewey along with the various Fins locations have happy hours and are our gotos.- 145 replies

Dining at the Delaware Beaches

Our experience was less than great. Food just ok though fritters were good with poor service and minuscule wine pours. There are better choices such as the mentioned Henlopen Oyster House. Delaware just reinstated indoor mask mandates.- 145 replies

Finding New and Different Wines - How Do You Do It?

Calvert Woodley has Italian whites on sale. I bought a few to try. Glad to read they will reopen but it will be difficult for them to enforce distancing I think.- 17 replies

Now $315pp but includes service charge. Wine pairings extra and you can pay in advance so pretty much $1000 per couple with wine I assume. This all according to TS in his last chat.

Carryout and Delivery
mr food replied to Ericandblueboy's topic in Washington DC Restaurants and Dining
Our reliable Indian - Red Chillies - formerly Tiffin - is on DD and UE. Food continues to be excellent. We tried Masala Story last week-one and done. The entrees were sweet not savory. The garlic naan resembled a green tortilla. Portions were slightly cheaper than RC but much smaller in size. We did like the veggie Pakora --- RedRocks Pizzeria (alexandria1) -

Wow! What's next Don? -
If you get there around before 5, most nights you can get bar seating. It's quite an experience with delicious food. Rose is generally there speaking with guests-such a charmer.

The end of an era. Thank you past and present staffers for your wonderful hospitality. Thank you again Dean and Kay. Good luck to all!

A nice meal at the table in the rear of the bar last night. Nolan and Will took good care of us as we grazed on deviled eggs and two caprese salads followed by two Dino classic pastas, wild boar and duck lasagna. Kay stopped by briefly. Not sure if I will be able to get back again before close. We all wondered where our next clubhouse will be?

Not sure if it will be our last visit but we certainly worked our way through a good part of the menu. Old favorites, deviled eggs, a terrific charcuterie platter for only $10 as it was HH, wild boar pasta, duck lasagna, crab pasta, various veggies and more with plenty of corkage free wine. We will miss our clubhouse!

Don is speaking my language. Restaurant pricing and quality are moving farther apart.

I would say the Cabot white cheddar in the black wrapper is not too crumbly. Good for a quick snack and grating for mexican dishes, etc.

I got an email from Cleveland Park Wines that said Mark Slater is now with them. Good luck to Mark!

Always pleasant to sit at the bar with Andrew. Food was a bit mixed with an overly oily eggplant parmigiana and an overcooked pork dish. I went with pastas-lobster and the duck lasagna both just fine but more lobster in the pasta would have been nice. Andrew adjusted the bill after our comments on the pork. A fun evening as usual.

I don't eat raw oysters in New Orleans. Why take the chance when you can go to Drago's and get their famous charbroiled oysters.

Vernick looks nice but nothing available so would have to walk in. Not out of the question though.

We had dinner at Sergios recently. Solid as always and Sergio is quite present. Except for the busboy, the staff remains the same as it has for years. Nice that corkage is now permitted.

Now it's the 20 year old Kirkland Highland and I prefer it to the 18. Great buy for $54.
