Spicy chicken bibimbop from the cart at 14th & L. Yes egg, yes kim chee, yes just a little bit of hot sauce. The top of my head might blow off, but oh, it's so good.

Will anyone at the 14th & U market have chicken, or any meat besides pork? I'm lamenting the loss of Cibola Farms at the MtP market but don't often make it down to Dupont Circle... -
I'm sorry to have missed it, I was looking forward to meeting people. But the baby woke up with a little cough and I don't want to have him out in this weather. Hope everyone had a great time!

You'd really like Alton's overnight oatmeal... I've made it a million times. I usually omit the half and half (not something I typically have on hand), maybe stir in some nuts at the end, and use any variety of dried fruit.

I eat cereal to death. It drives the mister crazy, because I'll frequently have it for dinner on nights when he closes. I have a tiny baby who doesn't go to bed until after 8:00. He's a handful. Cereal is fast, easy, and I like it. I'm a fan of hippie cereals generally, and especially the fine family of Kashi products. I like their Autumn Harvest cereal - that's Kashi, right? And they have another shredded-wheat style cereal we get a lot. We recently started back on Cheerios, which I haven't regularly in years, because the baby's moved into finger foods. I'd forgotten how much I like it. If I only ate what I liked with no regard for nutritional value or calorie content, I would have a bowl of Fruity Pebbles every day of my life. Maybe with a banana.

He had to close last night, so the mister made a nice sauce with cannelini beans and tuna, and I was supposed to make myself pasta. But when he's not home and I have the baby to deal with, my dinner sometimes falls by the wayside. So I settled for the last of the So's Your Mom chopped liver on an everything bagel and some shortbread cookies the Nanny Share Couple brought back from England.

The mister made a little stir-fry with asparagus, seitan, and carrots over brown rice. It was good, but so spicy I could hardly eat it. And I like spicy...

Ah, this is why I thought he founded the place. Got it. ETA: Originally typed that as "founded the mistake." Yeah.

It doesn't look like anyone is particularly happy with the new arrangement - three of AG's top people have left since the sale, including founder Chris Patterson. (Full disclosure: my husband works at one... for the time being. This is why the free meal. But trust me when I tell you, I'm over the place.)

Sometime I'll have to tell the story of my friend's Slim Jim chili and the Cha-Cha Chili Chill-Off and Rock & Rock Show. Last night I had tacos at the Austin Grill downtown. I know, there aren't a lot of fans here, but the meal was free, and my al pastor was good.

My husband's originally from Pittsburgh - he tended bar at Lava for years, and was the first manager at Tiki. He and I lived in the SouthSide for about four years before moving here.
