  1. Had this discussion with one of their employees a few months ago. McCormick's Full menu is dictated by Corporate. The respective branches Happy Hour Menu, is created by their respective chefs.
  2. TASTE TEST MONDAYS! Starting this Monday, March 5, and every Monday afterwards, Restaurant Kolumbia will be offering Don Rockwell members free samples menu items that are personally selected by the Chef. This is how it works: 1) Come to the bar, say hi to John (me), and say "I'm a Don Rockwell member and would like to try a "Taste Test." 2) Grab a beverage of your choice, and wait a few moments as Chef Stachoski prepared an awesome item from the menu for you to taste. 3) Enjoy the "taste" stick around for more drinks, and order great food from the Chef's Butchers Board, "Eat" bar menu, or full dinner menu. 4) Go home happier :-) This is pretty simple. ALSO, Happy Hour is from 5-7pm, and features $5 glasses of House Wine(red and white), $4 Draft Beers, and $5 rail drinks (including martinis!). See you at the Bar John
  3. I've noticed a bit of chatter (as well as angst, frustration, and exasperation) about some of the worst restaurant websites in the Washington DC Metro area. I just wanted to put in my 7 cents about Restaurant websites that are amongst the best in our area. I'll start by putting out a shameless plug about the great restaurant I'm at, Restaurant Kolumbia. www.restaurantkolumbia.com is a great website because it represents several things some of the worst ones don't LOL. 1) It's menu is current and even features a section for the "Lunch at the Bar" which is a small 4-5 item menu with $9 selections...This changes MONTHLY; 2) Navigating the website is fairly easy as the type and font is easily readable AND there are several "drop-down" menus in places where you may need more information; 3) NO SILLY MUSIC or naked dancers - refer to the worst website thread for more info on that :-); 4) There's a press section (called "News and Reviews") so you can see what others are saying about us...not just us talking about ourselves; 5) Information such as address, hours of operation, telephone number, etc are prominently displayed on almost EVERY PAGE; Did I mention our website is up to date? LOL. Seriously, we've put some time and effort into our website and we hope that it's informative and you enjoy it. Feel free to let us know we're doing (you can contact us directly through the website...and yes we do check it and respond). Looking forward to seeing and hearing about other restaurant websites that people consider good/great. See you at the Bar! John B aka Not afraid of shameless plugs for quality things
  4. It's on the dinner menu, under second course and on the bar dinner menu. If you ask nicely though Chef Jamie may bring it out for you at lunch. See you at the Bar - John
  5. Feature item samples available for Don Rockwellians! “A sandwich like no other!” Chef Stachowski presents Une Petite Pumpernickel Club. Layers of homemade pumpernickel topped w/ a trio of smoked fish (salmon, sturgeon gravlax, bluefish salad), pickled red onions, daikon, & horseradish remulade. On the side we are serving in-house made potato chips. Be among the first to sample this before it becomes the most popular sandwich on K St! Ask for a sample at the bar. See you at the Bar John
  6. ENJOY NEW YEAR'S EVE DINNER @ Restaurant Kolumbia!!! Chef Jamie Stachowski will be preparing a tantalizing 4-course dinner for your dining pleasure. See the menu at Restaurant Kolumbia. We will have one seating @ 7 pm, and a DJ will provide a smooth, cheerful blend of classic soul and funk to keep your spirits up. To reserve your place for this great event, please call (202) 331-5551 and reference New Year's Eve Dinner @ Kolumbia. We're looking forward to seeing you. See you at the Bar John & the Restaurant Kolumbia staff
  7. This week! Complimentary Boudin Rouge for DonRockwell members: Come in from Happy Hour (which starts at 5pm) through the evening, mention you are a DonRockwell member and receive a sample of Chef Stachowski's "in house" made Boudin Rouge. We are also currently showcasing a flight of three Syrah's: Domaine d' Andezon Cotes du Rhone - 100% Syrah, grown in the Southwestern edge of the Rhone Valley. Spicy and full-bodied. This wine is intensely dark in color and in it's richness of fruit. Robert Pecota Syrah - 100% Syrah, grown in California's Central Coast. This wine is big and rich; and has tasting notes of blackberry, plum, and herbs, with a lingering spicy finish. 3 Rings Shiraz - from South Australia's Barossa Valley. Big, ripe, and juicy come to mind when tasting this wine. Tasting notes of blackberry, wood smoke, and vanilla. John B's recommendation - Order the flight of Syrah, and a Three(3) selection Buthcher's Board of Boudin Rouge, Fresh Kielbasa, and Smoked Lamb Shoulder. Last but not least – (1) Thanks to all of you who have come and tried the Philadelphia Bob. It's been a hit! (2) Be on the lookout for the new lunch menu for the month of December. See you at the Bar John B
  8. Thanksgiving leftovers never tasted this good! We are coming off a great Thanksgiving dinner yesterday! Thanks to all who braved the wet weather and came in for a wonderful dining experience If you want another stab at great Thanksgiving food and leftovers, come in to Restaurant Kolumbia today (Friday) for Happy Hour starting at 5pm. Chef Jamie has two Thanksgiving treats for you: Philadelphia Bob - This is a classic "Philly thing." Chef Jamie is using a sub roll, roasted turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and onions for this. It will be served with "Best on K" Fries We also have some Turkey Ballotines left. Try these with one of our great wines by the glass or the Hook and Ladder Golden Ale. Who says Thanksgiving has to end on Thursday. See you at the bar - John
