" 3.09 is correct on the fries, I was there yesterday. And if I was to have them I would split them with another party. But I still find that at my local outlet the fries are skimpy. However I find it amusing that some one should tell me or anyone what makes "more than enough" for a proper meal.
  2. I have never forgotten having dinner in Savannah and they brought out sherbet as palate cleanser- a first for me. Not a fine dining experience but my mom and I loved the lunch rooms of the old department stores, especially Neiman's, Marshall Fields, Forty Carrots in Bloomingdales and lastly the Birdcage in Lord and Taylors where we ate lunch at least twice a month from when I was probably about 8 through my early fifties. In the early days it was a prix fix menu and it always came with a dessert from the dessert cart. My brother being a boy got 2!
  3. And Woodmoor stills holds up for the most part. Most of the items truly taste like they have real ingredients-i.e. butter, etc. While in this day and age there are more bakeries that specialize in using real ingredients and can be tasty (not Georgetown Cupcake) but in my opinion Woodmoor never stopped. Plus they make a Cronut and in the morning (they are usually gone pretty fast) and they are pretty damn good.
  4. I discovered Spindrift about a year ago at Cava. They were/are expensive- but Trader Joes has them - and Harris Teeter has put 2 eight packs for the price of one. Panera has them as well. The prices on Amazon were ridiculous last year when I first looked to see how I could my hands on them. Lemon is my favorite- I tried the Grapefruit it was pretty good as well.

  6. very busy on Sunday with people walking out with big smiles on there faces. It does seem it would be wait for your product but watching them make the ice cream is pretty interesting.
  7. I work in the area and it is always busy- I thought the place would never make it surrounded by so many mediocre chains - (not the pizza)- but it does very well and the food is different, fresh and very good
  8. only been to Teds once- but one of my party got the tater tots- so I guess they were memorable to me although I did not have one- I guessed that you up charged them
  9. My girlfriend and I are 50 something and find ourselves suddenly single at the same time. We love good food, however now we are looking for happy hour places downtown where we can have a well crafted cocktail, maybe doing some chatting and then follow it up with a good meal. Any thoughts?
  10. The lack of thought to the older people in this world makes me ashamed of this website. People saying they have no problem becuase they are 55- 55! lucky you. Try 65, 75, 85 - oh yeah the elders should not beable to go out for dinner but should just stay home- maybe lock up all the elders in this city. I am sure the "greatest generation" appreciates your thoughts. By the way I am 55 as well. Milleniums suck.

  12. I have had several good meals here. The bolognese is delicious. They have changed the menu quite a bit in the last year- but still good.

  14. We are staying at the Tides in South Beach. 3 ladies in late forties on a girls weekend. I don't know South beach at all. I find there are not as many resources to follow for dining as say new york, so for help so I am relying on my fellow rockwellians. Thursday night (we want casual, fun fine food): Michaels Genuine: Is this close to South Beach or an expensive cab ride? Friday Lunch (we are going out later that night so we want a 2p.m. or so fun, festive lunch with either people watching or water view) : Bistro One in the Ritz Carlton or Il Dido in the same (this seems weak, so a better idea would be appreciated) Fri Eve Clubbing: Setai bar or the Shore Club Saturday Dinner: Vix Sunday Dinner: a casual Cuban place: please name a good one Monday lunch: Joe's Crab Stone House How am I doing.   15. Saturday we were thinking what's for lunch? Since we were heading the HD to look at trees - I said hotdog at Home Depot...this is not to unusual for us...kind of like a county fair dog. We like it.

  17. I have seen it loose at Eastern Market outside markets. I have seen different brands at Williams Sonoma. And for what it is worth -Orville Redenbacher in the glass jar (at Giant) cooked in a cast iron skillet is way and above any microwave popcorn
  18. They have a large and very comfortable bar area and a small but appealing bar menu. My friend and I split the lamchops- six for 18.00 which were delicious and three for each of us- with their veggie platter was perfect meal for us. Friendly bar staff.
  19. I thought that may be the case and the fact that we came at the beginning of service may have contributed further to that. Thanks for your reply. Michael, if you see this, I have a question. I like a richer piece a meat-okay a piece of meat with a little fat on it. I love a bone in rib-eye or any peice of red meat on the bone. Other than the Cowboy which is just too big for me- what would you suggest on your menu to order. Although the strip is delicious - it is denser than I like even medium rare. TIA
  20. My husband and I had a good meal here Saturday night at the bar. We are looking forward to the left overs tonight. However, the service at the bar did not seem adequate. We sat with empty glasses from our first drink for what seemd like 15 minutes while the two bartender's seemed overwhelmed. During the time we sat at the bar with the empty glasses there were only two other couples and a single at the bar. This was early in the evening, but it seemed to me they need an extra man there. As the bar was filling up the other bartender was taking orders from the tables, so essentially it is only one bartender mixing drinks, serving his waiters and tending to diners. Not only that but we would have ordered another drink each and maybe another glass of wine, but during the 2 hours we were there it was to hard to get their attention.
  21. my mom and I like to cook and we always liked a lot of the recipes from her books- and were are not talking about the canned soup recipes- off the top of my head: Elevator Lady Spice Cookies, her chocolate mousse, her method for cooking prime rib for one, casual joe special recipe, brownies, A-1 Chocolate sauce, etc. If the list here seems heavy on dessert it is becuase as a young girl I often made the evening's dessert - so those are the recipes I remember most. Her humor was fun to read- such as her dieting tips- such as the tongue in cheek idea that eating hard cook eggs could actually help you lose weight- if that was all you ate since it would take more energy to eat an egg then the number of calories actually in the egg. However when I made her cranberry meatball recipe a few years ago I realize in some cases my tastes have truly changed - not good.
