  1. Where can I get a whole roasted lamb for a party at my house? I need them to cook it for me too. thanks!
  2. What was the point of this review? Just to complain and make a restaurant look bad? It sounds like the AC was broken, I'm sure they were aware of it. They were working in it all day. But it's a Friday night, you can't exactly find someone to fix your AC on a drop of the dime. (Trust me I know, my AC broke last summer. It was the worst 3 nights of sleep in my entire life.) Let's try to keep in mind that this is people's livelihood that we are playing with. Forget the owners, but the servers, hosts, bus boys, chefs, etc. But most importantly, YOU DIDN'T EVEN TRY THE FOOD! Your "review" of Poste should be taken off. It's one thing if people don't like the food and write a terrible review, that's completely fair. But it's another for people to come on these sites (DR, chowhound, yelp, urbanspoon) and just trash a place because they are in a bad mood. People like you give these sites a bad name.
  3. Looking for good Greek / Mediterranean restaurants in the area. Something good for a date. Young modern atmosphere would be nice. Something other than Zaytinya
  4. Vidalia got robbed last night!
  5. In case you missed out on the first round, here's your second chance.
  6. They have been open for a couple months I think. I went a while back, but it was very good for a new restaurant. I had the chicken agar salad, dr pepper ribs, and the funnel cake for dessert. The chicken agar salad was different, but good. I had never had agar before but it was a nice, refreshing dish (it was still warm outside when i went.) The funnel cake was what it sounds like, but it was really good. It was nice to eat a funnel cake at somewhere that isn't an amusement park. The dr pepper ribs were the star of the night however. Absolutely delicious! They also had some pretty good beers. I had the Clipper City Red Sky at Night Saison. A perfect beer for the summer/fall. The negatives were that it was kind of small and it got pretty loud, pretty quickly. The pacing was also a little bit slower, but that's to be expected since they were only open a few weeks at that point. All in all a nice surprise out in the burbs. If I'm ever out in vienna i look forward to going back
  7. I was going to post this in the Ray's the Steaks topic, but it is locked for some reason. Does anyone know when Ray's the Net/Catch is supposed to open?
  8. Is there anywhere in the area that makes this dish?
  9. I don't think it's necessarily fair to bring up Oya when judging Sei. Yes, it is a very similar to Oya with the decor and food. Yes, they are by the same owners. But I still think it should be judged as a separate restaurant.
  10. went there tonight for the first time. the asian pear sangria was excellent. they also had a drink that sounded pretty interesting, the liquid wasabi, but i didn't get it this time. we tried the fish and chips roll, crunchy shrimp roll, and some kind of kobe beef roll. we also had the pork buns and the kobe beef sliders. everything was pretty good. their menu is half sushi and half small plates. the decor reminded me of oya but it was much more intimite because of the lower ceilings. it's a really good date restaurant. it also seems like a good place to grab a drink and a small bite. if you want traditional sushi, then this probably isn't the place. but if you are looking to try something new or different, this is a fun place to do it.
  11. I went for the first time on Tuesday. I sat in the bar with a friend of mine. I had the lamb and barley soup and a housemade pasta with beef cheeks and pork cheeks. Those descriptions might not be exactly accurate, but it's the best i can remember. Anyways, my friend had the fry plate and the burger. everything we had was really good. the fry plate was as good as advertised. i especially like the fried slices of lemon. The real story of the night was the people next to us at the bar. there was a couple who sat next to us at the bar. from the moment they sat down they were a pain in the ass. they started off by complaining that the salad was not cleaned enough. they refused to have it fixed, instead they decided to lecture the bartender on how gross of an error they had made. then after they mentioned that they needed the food fast because they were waiting on a babysitter, but they wanted to make sure their food wouldn't be undercooked because they were rushing their order. after complaining a couple more times about how long the food was taking, they finally got their food. less than a minute after getting their food, the woman complained that her food wasn't warm enough. when the bartender asked to fix it, she said she'd rather take it home and do it herself. then she went on another lecture about how disappointed she was with everything. but that wasn't it, her final complaint was on how her credit card was handed back to her. instead of putting the card and receipt directly in her hand, the bartender placed it on the bar in front of her. at this point, i really wanted to say something. if you are in a rush for time, don't go out to eat. or don't pick a restaurant that is completely full at 730, prime dinner time. i can understand if you are in a rush, but you need to have a little bit of patience. anyways, i wrote this in case any of the managers at palena read this. whoever the front bartender was on tuesday, feb 3, did an excellent job. if u recieved a complaint from this couple they were crazy. also, for other diners, please be patient and although a restaurant should do everything possible to cater to your needs, try to realize that you aren't the only diner in the restaurant.
  12. according to a friend. folks in AZ eat something called frybread. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frybread
  13. No, it doesn't. i went a couple weeks ago and it didn't. if i remember correctly, it's 125 for the degustazione and around 65-70 for the 5 glass wine pairing. i'm sorry but i don't remember how much the 3 glass pairing was.
  14. Hey I'm trying to come up with a Pittsburgh vs Arizona theme for a Super Bowl party. I'm thinking about doing Tacos for AZ. Not sure about Pittsburgh though. What are some Pittsburgh foods that are good for a party?
  15. Has there been a post about this place? I think I read somewhere it's the same people from Oya. Here's what I got from OpenTable Modern Asian cuisine from award winning Sushi Master Noriaki Yasutake and Chef Avinesh Ranav The intimate space, located next to the Landsburgh Theatre, features seating for 50, sushi bar seating 12 and a cozy lounge area. Yasutake & Ranav offers their modern spin on traditional sushi, specialty rolls and Asian fare. An extensive half bottle sake list has been specially selected by sommelier Andrew Stover. *edit* I just found this. http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/restaura...ei,1155087.html
  16. How did Bourbon Steak get #16? Correct me if i'm mistaken but didn't that open up in like nov/dec? And didn't they say that they would try a restaurant multiple times before reviewing it? At the latest the rankings had to be in the editors hands by like mid dec maybe? So in less than a month from the time Bourbon Steak opened and this issue was put together they tried it multiple times? I just don't get how that is possible.
  17. i'm not THAT new. i've been a member for 2 years. and i'm proud to say i've achieved the title of "clam"
  18. I was just curious about the infamous Don Rockwell. Is he a former chef? Does he work for some kind of food magazine or something? I just ask because it seems like he (along with most of the people on this site) knows a lot about food. Also, it seems like he eats out like a dozen times a week, which can get pretty pricey.
  19. I like this place. The kubideh has a real distinct taste compared to Moby Dick's (which has really slipped in the last 3 or 4 years IMO). if only they had better bread.
  20. I went recently and had what i think was called the Dog Catcher. Burgers with bone marrow? It was delicious. Who knew?
