  1. We dined here with friends last night to celebrate my husbands birthday. We drove up and found parking right out front. A good omen of things to come. So before I go any further I should note that my husband and the other gentleman we dined with are notoriously picky about food and design. I suppose they can't help themselves, as they each have been in the business 20+ year,s but man, it can be annoying when you are the one accompanying them. That said, I am pleased to announce they were both delighted with their meals and beverages. In fact, my husband said the Coventry was the best cocktail he's had. Ever. For starters, we ordered the Octopus dish, The Steak Tartare and the Burrata of Mozzerella. The Octopus was wonderful and tasted of the sea. The Mozzerella looked like a perfectly poached egg and was deliciously creamy. My favorite was the Steak Tartare and it was the best I've had. Wow. For our entrees, we ordered a slew of pastas as well as the Veal Cheeks with Risotto. OMG. The veal cheeks were amazing. So tender and the sauce was out of this world. This might have been my favorite dish of the night, but honestly, I would have difficulty choosing just one. Our waiter told us the Chef commented that we must be having a pasta party. Yes, yes, indeed. For pasta we sampled: Lobster Ravioli It's everything previous posts have claimed it to be. Was surprised to learn it was also gluten free. Spaghetti with Prawns, Crab and Sea Urchin This was the dish my husband was looking forward to the most and he was absolutely thrilled with it. As such, I barely manged to snag a taste, but the small sample I tried was divine. Vincisgrassi with black truffles Beautiful dish with delicate layers. This was unlike any lasagna I've ever had. Pappardelle with Scottish Wild Hare Ragu Ahhh the sauce for this dish was incredible. The hare had a delcious flavor and not at all gamey. Lamb with Proscuitto I can't remember the name of this dish, but it was another top contender. It was similar in shape to the ravioli, little pockets of deliciously spiced ground lamb topped with proscuitto. All in all a complete winner of a meal. Service was great, Attentive but never rushed us. Can't wait to go back
  2. yep, they have a full bubble tea menu. I'm not sure what Neal's is, but yes, they have a fuddruckers a few doors down.
  3. This yummy new pho restaurant just opened last month. I've already been FOUR times. This is the best pho I've ever tried... I'm curious if anyone else has tried it yet? The menu is small but tasty. Located in the shopping center at the Darnestown/Quince Orchard intersection.
  4. This is a restaurant that I have eaten at a lot while overnighting in Bowie. It's not the fanciest place around but the filet and the crabcake are definetly satisfying after a long day at work. I have actually stayed at the Motel several times. With varied success.
  5. Last night confirmed that Komi is my very very favorite restaurant in DC. Derek, thanks for your help! You helped make the evening even more outstanding! Everything was excellent and I wish that I had taken notes! The mezzethakia was nearly identical to crackers description above, so I'll forgo repeating it. The oxtail in pita bread was one of the most incredible things I have ever tasted. It might have even surpassed the dates with mascarpone as my new favorite. For my pasta course, I had the gorgonzola raviolini. So so fantastic. For my entree- venison. I have never had venison that was so tender and delicious.
  6. We had dinner here with friends last night and had a lovely meal. For apps we ordered the polenta with wild mushrooms, calamari, shrimp toast and the spicy chicken. For entrees, two of us ordered the ravioli with lobster and crab, one salmon over rice and one vegetables in a puff pastry. All were very tasty! As far as comparing this restaurant to others in the neighboorhood- I'd pick this restaurant every time over Comus Inn.
  7. We went to Eamonn's for lunch on Sunday. The previous night we had celebrated at Citronelle and hey, thats a tough act to follow. Eamonns are the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Possibly ever. Including f&c from several geographical areas of England.
  8. We had an incredible meal last Saturday. Since this was our first trip to Citronelle we decided to do the 9 course meal. The waitstaff and the sommelier (not Mark, but I forget his name!) were fantastic. The menu is different than what is on the website now. I was given a copy but I left it in my friends bag. So sorry, no list from me.
  9. Actually, Waitman, I have had pretty good Chinese food in DC. In Chinatown. Three friends and I tried Joe's after reading rave reviews both here and elsewhere. We had the following selections. Sorry, but I didn't save the #'s of each item. Hopefully this list will suffice. *bamboo salad *Duck tongue *salty calamari *Hot fish soup *dumplings (don't remember what kind??) *bean curd *tendon To be fair, the dumplings were Ok. The duck tounge was a bit different- since it was my first time trying this dish I don't think it's fair to make a negative comment. However, the remaining dishes were not very good. At all. The bean curd, tendon and fish soup were all in the same sauce and the sauce wasn't flavorful, wasn't spicy. Just greasy. The Bamboo tasted like it was fresh out of a can. The calamari was greasy.
  10. We ate at Joe's back in early February and it was seriously the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Hopefully it was just an off night.
  11. Late to the party here! Diwiddie, you should try Vit Goel on Twinbrook Parkway. We were taken there by a Korean friend a few weeks ago. We had the following: We had i) gool soon-du-bu: oyster tofu soups (spicyness: medium), ii) hae-mul pa-jeon: seafood pancake, iii) jjoo-kkoo-mi gook-su: spicy noodle with baby octopus and iv) Popeye Galbi: BBQ ribs. Everything was fantastic but the seafood pancake and bbq ribs really stood out.
  12. My boyfriend and I went to Mannequin Pis last night for dinner. This is the second time we've been since Bernard left. We had been countless time prior to his departure. I was really pleased that the quality of the food has not suffered. I overheard a waitress telling her customer that Bernard has opened a new place in Philadelphia. We started our meal with the escargot. Fantastic. My boyfriend then had the Jamacian Isle mussels and I had the Kangaroo with a cherry sauce. Nicely done. We are beer people so the beverage menu at MP is always a treat. My boyfriend had the La Chouffe, Nostradamus and an OerBier. I had the Peche Lambic. Heaven!
