  1. The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan Island is very good. I find Husk for lunch a much better value. Also, try to check out 167Raw, very small but a great place with awesome service.
  2. The charred octopus at Kapnos is very good, although sometime a bit salty. Per on-line menu is $16.
  3. Not sure if this belongs here or not but a general question on tipping. I have a couple spots that I hit up routinely for lunch when I want to get away from people at the office and sit at a bar and have a burger and a couple beers. I have gotten to know a few of the bartenders and couple of them don't charge me for 1 of the 2 beers. What is the protocol on how to tip on something like this? Typically the beer is in the $6-$8 range.
  4. Anyone know why President Obama always uses ISIL in his speeches versus the more mainstream ISIS?
  5. Found this on the website. Exchange your empty tank for our inspected, precision-filled grill tank. Our tanks are filled to a net propane weight of 15lbs.
  6. Per their Facebook page. November 10, 2015 To Our Dear Customers: It is with a bittersweet feeling that we announce the closing of the Waterfront Market today for an expansion and renovation over the winter. Yesterday I completed the sale of a stake in the Market to a great partner who will bring a new full kitchen and expanded menu in the spring of 2016. We are grateful for the warm welcome we've received from the local community as well as visitors since opening in 2013. When we conceptualized the Market three years ago, we never expected that the Old Dominion Boat Club would be moving to a splendid new building a block away and the City would have the opportunity to create a beautiful public plaza at the foot of our historic main street. My mission since opening has been to be part of the transformation of the waterfront. With a new front door being created to our historic city I felt it was appropriate to "˜step up our game' and be part of this incredible opportunity. The staff join me in thanking all of you for your support and patronage. We look forward to serving you again in the spring "” and hope you'll wander (or take the trolly) up the street to Bittersweet for great food, community and my Mom. With gratitude, Jody Manor
  7. Great suggestions. We ended up at Passage to India and it was excellent as usual.
  8. Well, looks like I dropped the ball (work, kids, etc.) in making dinner reservations for our anniversary, which is actually today (11/6) but unable to do dinner tonight. Looking for someplace that we can walk into tomorrow night probably around 8 and somewhere not to far from Bethesda. We don't mind sitting at the bar as long as we don;t have a bunch of people hovering over us. Wife is not a big fan of Italian food. Drawing a blank right now. How is the bar area at Rasika-West End?
  9. For what it is worth we ate at Medium Rare (CP) on Sunday and had a drink at the bar waiting for our table. They transferred our bar tab to our table.
  10. My 12 year old actually came home with someone's bowl in his bag. I asked why and he said sign said help yourself so he took it. Still shaking my head.
  11. I should purchase a lottery ticket. The moons aligned and found parking spot about 100 feet down the street, either that or it is late August in DC. I pre-ordered 5 pizzas for pick-up at 4 pm. Walked in the door at 3:59 and they were just pulling them from the oven. Had to restrain myself from scarfing down a slice on the car ride home. Will report back on how the neighborhood gang enjoyed.
  12. The wife wants me to stop at the Rosslyn location tonight and pick-up a couple pies for a party tonight. Is there any parking nearby to make this as painless as possible or am I stuck hoping to luck into a street spot.
  13. Sounds like this may have been part of the problem "Bethesda Barbecue Company Owner Hanging On After Power Outage Damages Equipment" by Andrew Metcalf on bethesdamagazine.com
  14. We will be at the Harbor Beach Marriott over the July 4th holiday and looking for a few nice family dinner spots (kids are 14 and 11). We won't have a rental car so anything walkable, water taxi or short cab ride.
  15. Have plans to go here Sunday night for a birthday celebration - finally using a gift card given to us over a year ago. Any recommendations on a good value bottle of red that I can order for us.
