  1. Thanks all. They have booked dinner at Adour.
  2. Some medical friends of mine are running away from the family and getting married at the Marriage Bureau of the DC Superior Courts. They have asked my advice on somewhere to have a wonderful meal after their wedding. It will just be the two of them. Having not lived in DC for a while, I am a little out of touch with what is good these days. My thoughts were along the lines of the Oval Room or Adour. All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.
  3. The bloke and I are off to New York at the end of the month. Some friends from Baltimore are coming up on the Sunday and we'd like to go for a leisurely brunch to catch up over good food and a cocktail or two. Where is great for brunch these days? Thanks in advance.
  4. OK, Brit in Baltimore in dire need of recommendations for a good butcher in Baltimore or nearby. I'm planning on roasting beef on Christmas Day and I have been rather underwhelmed by the look of a lot of the meat at the local supermarkets. Is the beef from Wegman's any good? What about Whole Foods? Are there any what I would call "real" butchers who know and care about the meat they sell? Many thanks in advance for your help.
  5. Thanks for the welcome and for the merging of the threads. Also, many thanks for all the suggestions - please keep them coming. We're really looking forward to proper American breakfasts over the weekend. Old Ebbitt Grill looks like a good place to start - I've eaten there before in the evenings but didn't know it opened for breakfast. Kate
  6. Dear All, My husband and I will be staying in central Washington DC this weekend. I would be really grateful for suggestions on where to eat breakfast/brunch over the weekend. Thanks in advance. Kate
