  1. Been wanting to try it since seeing it on Signature Dish. Got to get over there some weekend.
  2. We were planning on going for lunch last Monday, after paddle boating on the Tidal Basin for the first time with our son. Unfortunately something was going on that side of the Mall and it was very challenging driving in that area. If you make it please do write up as it is on the summer list for the next DC trip.
  3. Can't believe Clyde's in Reston is closing. Remember when it first opened up and you could go to the bar and no one was there. A cup of chili was great during the winter months!
  4. Thanks Lydia for mentioning, he was on Signature Dish. We saw the first episode of the series already but skipped to the current to watch the Chang segment. I agree with your opinion that it humanized Chef Chang as well. We've eaten at his other restaurants and need to make it over to Q.
  5. Not quite that age yet, but losing unique craftspeople in the Mom and Pop restaurants, who have consistently toiled away over decades, has been one of the melancholy experiences of getting older. I suppose it is appropriate to have these kind of feelings during the Sakura blossoming time of year. As my friend reminded me yesterday after texting him about Dom's passing, we made the trek from the UWS to Di Fara’s and picked up three full pies for a house party. Still remember so many people asking us on the subway, where did we get that pizza, it smells so incredible. New Yorkers making conversation on the subway! As someone who still lives in NYC after twenty years, he said that never happens.
  6. Yes it has been great to see their continued high quality food over the years and expansion.
  7. Thanks Steve R. for the posting. Sad to hear that. Made a couple of visits out there seventeen years ago and throughly enjoyed them. From my limited exposure, Dom was an old fashioned guy, didn't talk much but had a glint in his eye. I still think it was one of the best NY style pizzas even had. NY Times
  8. Roberto Donna is coming to Church Street in Vienna. Tysonsreporter article. Earlier in the week, I drove by and saw him in the window seat working on something. As this is within our local area, wondering what the form the menu and restaurant, will eventually end up taking. We never made it to Red Galanga, we regularly visit the Sandwich Shoppe and The Pure Pasty Company, and their fusion style wasn't attractive to us. As I've thought for a long time Church Street is a prime location for small independently owned restaurants in NOVA. I think he can be very successful there, if it is drama free.
  9. Stopped by and it's not open yet. Peaked inside and they were getting things ready. Looking forward to trying it.
  10. Looks interesting, thanks follow posters. Will be trying it soon.
  11. Stopped by last Wednesday and it was decent. They are trying to find a balance between Indian and non-Indian taste buds which can be tricky. I think there is room for growth especially as the menu changes daily. Gas Station part reflects on the slightly lower prices than a sit down restaurant. Personally, it very convenient location.
  12. We've stopped off 95 in Richmond for break on our way to SC and enjoyed the urban Farmhouse market & cafe, mainly for quick and tasty sandwiches.
  13. Thanks Tweaked, Ace looks like an interesting option.
  14. Thanks Don. That link is a good starting place to look for places that have an intersection of loding and good food experiences.
  15. Thanks for the update Ericandblueboy. Most likely they are being hit with higher cost ingredients especially in regards to Chinese ones.
  16. We're looking to rent a cabin later in the fall. Has anyone stayed in the area or could recommend dining experiences nearby? Thanks!
  17. Has anyone been recently? Or done take-out? Been hankering for some Chinese recently and wondered about this place.
  18. The summer fly by and the iron fish pan has sat on the counter next to the bamboo steamer unused. I guess in someways going places again has been the cause which is great. Unfortunately the graveyard of unused cooking items at home continues to justify my wife's raised eyebrows when talking about organizing the kitchen.
  19. It's a complicated situation with many factors to compare vaccination with wearing masks. Factors such as distance between people, duration of that encounter, and air flow play such an important factor. Additionally, HVAC filtration systems capability, i.e. regular level filtration, HEPA or even HyperHEPA makes a substantial difference with number of people indoors. Ideally, with the Delta variant, people would be vaccinated and wear masks. However all masks are not created equal. Aaron Collins has been doing a great job on his youtube channel scientifically verifying the capacities of masks. Kids Masks, Ultra-breathable and More Mask Review- More KF94s...
  20. Will do but it may be a couple of weeks. Was planning on BBQ on Saturday but it looks like rain. Last weekend ended up getting some Hake from Blacksalt and broiling it in the toaster oven which turned out pretty good!
  21. I'm also on the search for a good basket or grill fish plate. Wife has been getting tired of salmon dishes. Picked up the Sur La Table Cast Iron Fish Pan last weekend but haven't used it yet. Instead broiled some Hake in the toaster oven which turned up pretty good.
