  1. I just finished lunch from here and it was delicious! I had the Columbian chicken (marinated in coffee and organic coconut milk) and the roast sweet potatoes and both were cooked perfectly. The chicken was very tender and juicy, but not at all greasy, and had a nice smoky flavor. The potatoes were perfectly roasted and also totally greaseless. All the chicken served is free range and antibiotic and hormone free, and roasted over charcoal and wood (yes, I have the menu in front of me as I'm typing this) and I thought it was absolutely delicious. A vast improvement over Inca Chicken, the previous tenant - and I liked Inca Chicken. This is just really special as far as fast food chicken goes, and a great addition to the neighborhood.
  2. I was there at about 5:30 on Monday (Columbus Day) and they had about 5 (?) of the unpasteurized bottles in the cooler on the left where the pasteurized stuff was. There was a sign saying that the cider with the red caps was their own-bottled, unpasteurized cider (the other bottles had white caps). Hope you can get your hands on some!
  3. They definitely had unpasteurized cider at the little veggie/fruit stand on Rt. 7 near Tysons that has the big sign saying "Ecoganic Vegetables". I can't remember the name of the place, as I just stopped in for the first time yesterday, but feel like someone here will know it! They had flash pasteurized and also their own, unpasteurized cider. I'm a wimp and bought the pasteurized cider... ETA: Just checked the Farmer's Market thread, and the market with the cider is called Potomac Vegetable Farms and it's in Vienna on Rt. 7/Leesburg Pike. Hope that helps!
  4. I'd type out all my experiences but it would just turn out to be a word for word repeat of Legant's post. I love the idea of CSA, the owner of Bull Run couldn't be nicer, but I was very disappointed with the variety of veggies I got this year. I did a one person share, and you wind up with such odd numbers of veggies that I had to supplement at the farmer's market every week anyway (1 tomato? 1 yellow squash? 4 small radishes?). I realize this year there was a terrible drought, but the farms that sell at the farmer's markets seemed to make it work a bit better than Bull Run did. I enjoyed the experience of, as my neighbors who saw me waiting for veggies one day called it, "the yuppie soup line", but I don't think I'm going to sign up with Bull Run next year. I'll consider other CSAs, but will probably just wind up buying everything at the 14th and U Market, which is just a few blocks away and had excellent produce all summer.
  5. Thanks everyone for the great advice! I hadn't thought about breaking up the meals with something a little different, but now that you mention it I definitely want to bring everyone to Etete one night (I live on U street and all are staying nearby). I will try to get into one of the places you've all suggested for Saturday night, but if nothing is available, guess I'll stick with Rest. Kolumbia. Thanks again for the warm welcome!
  6. Hi, I have four guests coming in to town from Oct. 17 to Oct. 21st. So far I've booked the following, but am having some second thoughts (esp. about Nora, and possibly about Kolumbia). Wed. Oct. 17 - Cordoruy Thurs. Oct. 18 - Nora Fri. Oct. 19 - Citronelle Fri. Oct. 20 - Restaurant Kolumbia I've heard Nora is sub-par lately, and while I really liked Kolumbia when I was there last, are there better choices for a Saturday night that wouldn't be impossible to get into? I mostly use OpenTable for reservations for a big group like this, and on Thursday I'm considering the following as replacements for Nora: Agraria, BlackSalt, Cashion's, Ceiba, DC Coast (I've been recently but I would go again), Equinox, Oyamel, Sushi Ko (been a million times but I love it), and Taberna del Alabardero. What would you do? Where would you go? The guests are foodies but not big drinkers... most of them will be in DC for the first time since they were kids. Thanks so much, and be kind! It's my first post here and I'm sorta clueless .
