  1. Going back to the ads posts -- seems like it's doing "Thai", "Chinese", etc., because we talk about those types of food, and they tend to match up with "meet a lady" ads. If we talked more about Russian food, I'd bet we'd get a bunch of Russian bride ads.
  2. If that many folks want to try it, I have a friend coming up from Durham in two weeks, so I'll ask him if he can bring some more bottles of it. This one is for me and Sergi.
  3. Yeah, I ordered from Tenzing Momo when making my amer picon replica, and I think that's where Marshall got his stuff, too.
  4. I just checked - it's probably your security settings, as their SSL certificate has expired.
  5. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well. Before dinner I poured a bit of Cappelliti, some orange bitters, and topped it with Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic water and it settled my stomach enough to be able to eat.
  6. At Sam's in Durham, I picked up a bottle of the 2011 Oak Aged Rodenbach. Boy howdy am I excited to try this, but I have to coordinate with one of my sour-drinking besties before I can. :-)
  7. The last couple of times I've been there it's been impossible to get into - just too many people. That's good for them, but makes me sad. Oh well! I used to be really, really tired of "thin crust" style pizza but since I'm trying to watch what I eat more nowadays, I find their plain cheese and herb with a couple of crunchy veggies added to be quite tasty.
  8. I walk there pretty regularly. During the summertime I have no issues with sitting in front of the pizza oven, it's like cooling off from outside!
  9. I spent a while talking to some friends in the restaurant industry because I was (and still am) convinced that my company could build a better system, especially in terms of reliability - especially given the costs for POS systems. The biggest problem I was hitting on the business case side to do a prototype was the UI development time, especially as our programming team got steadily more overwhelmed. However, I did run into a POS salesman at Hogo one night and chatted with him quite a while about the business which also made me hesitant. What he pointed out was how so many of the restaurants he sold to didn't want to pay the maintenance, or for support, and often just *didn't* pay, then went nuts when the system broke. (Having been at a BW-3 when their system went down and they literally had to give everything away for free, I can't imagine how much the downtime cost them. I felt glad that I had cash so I could at least tip out my bartender that night.)
  10. I give this rant a 7/10. Needs more deep sea lifeforms and/or Paris Hilton references, but the bouquet piquant sense of ranting injustice was there.
  11. Okay, this is killing me. Not literally. More than a couple of times a month, I want late night Chinese food -- i.e., after 10 PM. On a Sunday. Mostly delivery, as I'm typically kind of sort of rather drunk. I live in Ballston - what's open? Who will deliver? I can't find squat.
  12. I freakin' love those things. No confusion about what was said. Seeing all the options laid out in front of you with prices. I can order faster, easier, and not feel like I need to watch over the sandwich maker's shoulder lest they screw it up (like Subway -- every time I go there, which is a lot, I have to stop them from doing something I don't want to with my sandwich). If I'm in a chain restaurant (as often happens when I'm on travel for work) I'd want a tablet. I'd still want a waiter or bartender, mind you - and I'd still tip the same as long as the service was good. But being able to see items, hopefully get more information than just on a menu (such as nutritional), know what I ordered specifically - I'd be cool with that. Heck, you can order a pizza online and confirm all the extras, but you still tip the driver.
  13. Sam Adams Summer Ale. A solid summer beer IMHO each year. And going great with my chili.
  14. Not if you work near me. (I've been eating nothing but chili for almost 24 hours.)
  15. When you said greatest camp scenes of all time I immediately thought:
  16. To be honest, I've seen a few press releases touting new tiki-related menus, but I really haven't been around to visit them (especially since getting diagnosed as diabetic - that can make tiki drinks problematic.)
  17. With the construction and everything else, it was an open secret that time was perhaps limited. Of course, the fact that they haven't heard anything yet about Passenger (they're required to have at least 4 months notice) has been an on-going joke... It looks like more places are doing tiki (or at least tiki-ish) drinks nowadays. It might be harder to find over the winter, but there'll be places.
  18. Some cold Chateau St. Michelle Reisling, because it was cheap and cold at the store and it's hot outside, especially after a workout.
  19. I was going to say what they said: without word of style of restaurant, type of event, and at least general location, I'm busy enough that I'll skim a post like that and say "meh". Especially given dealing with a soft opening crowd.
  20. I have some friends who ran into in NOLA a couple of years ago and had nothing but nice things to say about hanging out with him.
  21. That's kind of hysterical. BTW, did you actually listen to the song? At one point we almost made this a drinking song at UVA in the Pep Band. Next up is Beyond Hell, one of my favorite albums. Debating if I have the oomph to get it done tonight after the day I've had.
  22. I've been seeing Green Flash more reliably - both on tap lists and in stores - lately, but I don't usually shop for beer in DC so I can't help there.
