hey there, this is Lucius from thirsty bernie. Normally i just read the posts, but i saw that jamie mentioned that you all should come in and talk to me. I know a lot of you loved his cooking and especially the charcuterie. I also know that Jamie is completely unlikeable as a person, so the idea of being able to enjoy his sausages, pates, tarrines, and various other prepared meats without the prospect of him rearing his ugly head, (please see http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/y...sessive-chefs/) from his cave downstairs, should seem appealing. Im kidding, sort of. We wish Jamie the best of luck as he continues his ongoing experiment with meat from a cave of his own. We are still featuring a lot of his product. And i promise, as a neighbor to many of you in north arlington, that we have not changed direction, nor do i ever plan to take shortcuts. I make good on my promises, if many you remember the early outcry for a kids menu and highchairs. We are fortunate to replace one overqualified chef for our local spot with yet another (andrew cieslowski). Hello, my name is Lucius Polk and i am responsible for managing Thirsty Bernie. First off, thank you all for your posts. We can't tell you how happy we are to have this much interest from everyone. I promised myself i would not reply or comment untill we had reached the one week mark. Without criticism and hindsight, improvement would be challenging. I have focused on three things that many have pointed out: The children: High chairs and booster seats are a must and have been ordered. A kids menu has been put together. Being a place where family and friends can meet in the neighborhood is just as important to us as late night sports and beer. The beer and wine: in haste, the beer and wine selection may have been pushed. I think you all will be pleasently suprised to find a wider variety of beer and a far more exciting and interesting wine list in the coming week. The service: Perhaps a blessing in disguise; but we never would have imagined the response we recieved within the opening week. We are incredibly grateful to all who came out to support us and are disapointed that at times we fell short on or side of that relationship. new staff has been added and as we push through, many of our wrinkles have been ironed out.
