  1. Actually was looking for dry, but thanks for the suggestion.
  2. Anyone know where to find this shape pasta locally?
  3. A shout out to Lady Goodknife who did a great job sharpening my neglected knives. They are better than ever with a perfect edge. Linda Mass
  4. Checking with Raphael Tours, they don’t have the tour you mentioned on their website now. Perhaps discontinued. Did you book directly with them? There is a tour with that name on Viator site. thx
  5. It will be my third visit; last in 1985. The food has never been that good but I am hopeful that I have the right perspective and will enjoy the Biennale, good espresso, some squid ink pasta and wandering the streets. Had a last minute 6 day opening in my schedule, miles needing to be used, and a chance to see Venice before it is totally claimed by the changing climate.
  6. Junction Bakery in Del Ray has them and they are delicious.
  7. Looks like salade nicoise components ... But sun if afternoon seems like city faces west... Toulon or Marseille
  8. Made reservations there for our upcoming trip- appreciate the suggestions . I have moderate expectations for food in Venice .
  9. Any rave restaurant reviews? Looking for current ones. How were the other places?
  10. Googling around it seems like a week or two or maybe a bit more.
  11. There are lots of figs in markets now and I came across an old David Leibovitz recipe that looks great. "Fig Chutney" by David Leibovitz on davidleibovitz.com if I don’t go through the canning process and just cook the fruit with spices and sugars, how long can I keep it in the fridge?
  12. While I am certainly no expert, I have travelled a bit and I think that the green curry served with what looks like roti is similar to Thai food served in the south near Malaysia. While bread is not normally served in most of Thailand, in my experience, roti is definite served in Penang Malaysia, geographically close. Sisters Thai has a similar appetizer that I have enjoyed . That’s all I know on the subject.
  13. Thanks! I do want to taste if possible
  14. This heat has me wanting salmorejo and I’m searching for a source for sherry vinegar.
  15. We enjoyed a terrific dinner last night. Although we had studied the menu last week, we were happily surprised by a new one. The service and food were perfect! The sautéed rouget atop a white gazpacho cream was a great pairing of cold and hot. I am a fan of the lobster French toast to share and was not disappointed. Lamb and sweetbreads were perfect. Chef is a master of temperature and textures and of course taste. Almost too full for Dessert and coffee but we persevered. I was intrigued by the small hammer and found this very interesting information from the hammer museum https://www.hammermuseum.org/hammer-highlight-toffee-hammers-and-suffragettes
  16. For me, it was 49 years ago in July and it was pretty dry compared to other local pastry/coffee shops.
  17. Just returned from a very disappointing trip to Jubilee at Ballston. Four of us ordered different flavors and all agreed that the ice cream was icy, lacking in flavor and creaminess. Perhaps poor handling but tasted more like ice milk or even Halo. We really like Jeni's- right amount of flavor, creaminess and coldness when scooped at the shop.
